Got the call...INCOMING!!!

Got the call today from an AD out of state, and with the exchanging of AMEX info, it is being shipped overnight and will be here tomorrow!

So, now my DSSD will have a brother to share wrist time with! The SD43/SD50 is the watch I would have had Rolex build if I could have them build me a custom watch. Haven't seen one in the flesh, but no doubt it will be a winner!

I have to ask, do any of you highly anticipate getting that call, put it in the back of your mind, and then when it actually comes there is a bit of an "oh crap" moment? I know there was for me today! It was time to put up or shut up!

Congrats!

Yes, I am waiting for a similar call for SD43, and when it comes, I will have that moment. I will more than likely need to sell one of my current watches towards it, and will be a hard decision.

I feel your pain. All of my other watches have sentimental value, including my DSSD, so they won't be sold. They were gifts from family, fiance, or were a result of something significant in life. Some aren't valuable enough to make a difference financially, such as my Luminox, etc. My DSSD is my only Rolex other than my late father's platinum dial/bezel YM that shares wrist time with my brother.

However, I was eyeballing my bourbon collection and some of it may definitely be "liquidated" (pun intended) to help lessen the sting of the purchase once the AMEX bill comes.

Congrats.
I haven't heard of any cases of an AD selling a sought after piece to someone that wasn't local. Glad you were able to source the piece you wanted. I travel a lot and none of the ADs I have visited would even put me on their waitlist for a Daytona C. None I have contacted in the US in person or by phone would ship a BLNR either.

For sure! Thanks! It definitely seems like several of these threads popped up yesterday!

Thanks!

Not sure, but I actually did visit the store in person the week of Basil while there on business and spoke with the salesperson there. They are just in the next state over from me and within about a 5 hours drive of me, so it is reasonable that our relationship could continue geographically. We created a rapport and will likely do business with them more in the future!

Hopefully so! The anticipation is daunting considering I haven't actually seen the watch or tried it on in person yet. I'm confident though! The package is supposed to arrive via FedEx priority by 12:00 noon...sooooo as of now I should have it within the hour!

It's here!!!! First impression is that it is just the right size, and my DSSD may be in trouble for regular wear!

Congrats!!!

Now that looks good on you and to me it fits you perfectly. The lugs are not hanging over your wrist like some other wrist shots I have seen posted here.

Enjoy it in good health!

While I'd love a domed crystal without the Cyclops, they nailed it here... Great size, adjusted the bracelet accordingly... Splash of red, power reserve, etc. Awesome watch!

Big congrats!
