Ceramic bezels - perfection?

Dear TRF, while reading one of the threads, I couldn't help but notice that one of the TRF members had a BLRO and sold it because the bezel changed its red and blue colors and was leaning into pink and purple. Would any of you had the same experience with the ceramic bezels like the hulk, BLNR, BLRO, Yacht Master II...
maybe even black ceramics. please share your thoughts.

Highly practical but far too glossy to the point of being blingy.

If they were toned down a tad, they would be perfect. In the meantime, I will continue with my aluminium inserts.

Ceramic is the way to go.cant stand the aluminum inserts myself.Ceramic adds a nice bit of flash to the brushed stee watches.Never seen them dad or change color.

I happen to have a GMT LN C and I'm concerned since rolex stated that its ceramics will never fade out.

Perhaps you could link to the thread you're talking about? I suspect you might have misunderstood. I've never heard of a ceramic bezel fading or changing color over time (they shouldn't do that), but they certainly do look different depending on the lighting, and more than a few people have complained that at times the BLRO colors don't look deep or dark enough.

I think you misunderstood his post. He just became more aware that the ceramic insert colors weren't like the vibrant aluminum colors but rather more like the muted 6542 bakelite colors.

Ceramic bezel looks sharp and doesn't scratch, I would be surprised if it fades

I'm confused by the OP. Was the BLRO that faded an aluminum or ceramic insert? The aluminum BLROs are known to fade over time, and those naturally faded inserts are actually highly sought after. I've never heard of a ceramic BLRO insert fading.

I made that comment about the BLRO looking pink/purple to me. It looks that way to me, although it can look blue/red in photos. It does not fade and sorry if I gave that impression. Rolex ceramic bezels are the best but long term color stability is unknown, I guess. I am sure Rolex has done accelerated lab aging and they passed. The colors on the BLRO are just too pastel for me and they are like that from the factory.

The BLRO has 2 versions of the ceramic insert. Some are a little more pink on the bezel vs red. I've compared side bye side. My BLRO is the more red version and looks great

Ceramic will not fade. I'd only ever buy a Rolex model equipped with a ceramic bezel, nothing else. The rich deep colour, shine and fact they are so difficult to scratch are major plus points.

I thought Rado debunked the whole ceramic thing back in the eighties. Will take aluminum any day. Achilles heel ceramics are.

If they were matte grey they would be perfect. Pair that with a matte dial and I would not have sold my sub. It was just to shiny for my taste.

I think I posted a while back. I actually cracked my BLRO bezel and thats how I found this out. Photos are on this forum if you look at my previous posts. The first replacement bezel from RSC was the pinker/lighter colored version. When I went to pickup the watch I told them and they said there was no way and that all colors are the same. I didn't pickup the watch and took my friends back the next day and then we put them side by side and they agreed. It took another 2 months if I remember right to get another ceramic bezel from geneva in which was the correct color.

I have also noticed the variation in bezel colors at an AD in Las Vegas. I put both brand new side by side and the sales rep couldn't believe I was right. One is a more salmon/pink and purplish/blue color. The other one is more of a red/blue color. And no this wasn't from variation of light!

I have owned both and love the ceramic. Especially because the numerals are etched in and have a more technical appearance. Also the high gloss finish.

Had a ceramic Omega. Glad to have owned it so I could tick the ceramic box, but I grew tired of the shine. Aluminum for me.

I'm used to the look of ceramic. I think the alu ones look thin & cheap (I know they're not).
