It's official - my wife is now a WIS
My wife was at a conference in Palm Springs last week and texted me that a gentleman sitting next to her had a GMT Pepsi! I didn't know she knew the watch or the terminology but I had tried on a vintage one at HQ Milton this spring. She piped up and told him he had a nice "Pepsi" and he told her it was a college graduation gift from his parents in the early 80s; it was in mint condition. He then complimented her on her black-dialed DJ.
This from a "girl" that never cared that much for watches and said she wouldnt spend that much on a watch... and has now conceded she loves her DJ (given as a 10 year anniversary gift) and never takes it off. The transformation is now complete... she may even join TRF soon! Sorry no pics but it happened! Any others out there with similar stories about their significant others! Here's her 31mm DJ. Awesome.
Similar situation here... my wife at work has received complements on her watches from other WIS coworkers and now they talk watches from time to time, which she shares with me.

That's great. I've tried to share the hobby with my better half, but she never got used to wearing a watch. She has developed a keen eye, though, pointing out what other people are wearing to me from time to time.

My other half is a bit of a WIS. She wears a Tudor BBR on leather and also has a Breitling. She loves Rolex and knows what most of them are.
She isn't at the same level of nerd as some of us but it's really handy when you want to go look at watches as she doesn't complain. In fact she even pops in to see my AD and say hello when I'm not there. Cars and watches are probably our shared hobby. |

Sounds like a keeper! ;)
My girlfriend is quite the WIS. She's happy to join me on trips to the AD and frequently knows more about case sizes, movements, etc than the salesperson! She currently wears a Nomos Tangente, but I'm saving up to get her a 34mm Date with engine-turned bezel.

She told me i couldn't not rub off on her but I find it very endearing. I know they're only watches but isn't it fun!

Hilarious - I will fall over when my wife spots one in the wild, or on TV for that matter.
