NOS question?

Just a quick question a friend asked me today, he's looking at a 16610LV that is NOS, never worn never even really been taken out the box from circa 2010. So the question is, does this watch need a service the second my friend buys it? Although never been ran logic dictates that it does? Am I right in my assumption?

I think you'll find people have different opinions on this.. in addition to the "servicing" aspect of the service (oils, gaskets etc), service at an RSC will also serve to authenticate watch and you will have a 2 yr warranty. Downside is the cost, so decision may lie in if your friend gets a good price on the purchase. Some would argue that if NOS after 7 years, just wear it and service it if not keeping COSC time.

If the watch is NOS, with all the stickers intact, I would leave it alone. As far as a service goes, it is just fine the way it is.

See this is my school of thought, that leave until timing issues arise as therortically the movement has never worked so essentially the exact same as the day it was made. Authentication is fine in this case as it's from a large dealer that I'd certainly trust but I was just concerned about gaskets and seals mostly regarding water resistance.

If such an animal as a NOS 16610LV exists, the premium you pay for it would make it a safe queen.

The instant it is put on, it's just another used LV.

As far as if a 7 or 8 year old watch needs a service for oil before put into use, no. But the more likely issue would be old and potentially set seals/O-rings.

Ones in what is said to be NOS condition, I've seen recently in the $14k-15k price range. Great point you make, and for those premimums, one can almost pick up a 116610LV + Very Good Condition 16610LV together

What are the seals and o-ring materials; does anyone know?

Do you guys think an NOS LV actually sells for $14k - $15k? Even the coveted Y serial. These are asking prices. Who knows what they are actually selling for, if at all. Regardless, the problem with NOS watches is you can't wear them.
