Talking watches with Alton Brown

Did a search and didn't find this posted. IMO, one of the better episodes of talking watches. Enjoy

I have always liked Alton. Didn't realize he was a pilot and loved watches. Very good.

I watched this. His early interest in watches was very similar to mine, i.e. his first one was also a Timex. I also agree with his opinion on smaller being better and cyclops. The story about the theft and then recovery of his father's Omega Chronostop was amazing.

Great video. Easily my favorite watch interview video I've seen from any source. And He was gracious enough to not correct Clymer for mispronouncing His name. It's AL-Ton, like Albert, not ALL-Ton. Sorry, it's the Word Nerd in me. Lol.

Saw that. Great episode and never knew he was into watches. Now I like him even more.

seriously analytical soul and a sharp no BS type, loved good eats and still watch the reruns, can't stand Iron Chef America, it mocks the original and while I enjoy his comments the show is just dull and unoriginal. He's a WIS from way back, he's always had great wrist candy when taping his various shows.

I watched this last night via HODINKEE, the story of his fathers Omega really put a lump in my throat!

good share.

alton has always been a personal favorite of mine because he's a student of the history of watches and buys what he likes -- great dresser too.

It got really dusty in my office when he said that.

I am a big AB fan and love watching his shows.

But as soon as he said that was "the" watch his dad was wearing when he died when AB was in 6th grade it got me.

So glad he was able to get it back, and Ebay of all places.

Thanks for sharing.

I had the pleasure of meeting Alton backstage at his show in Tampa. What a gracious guy and very down to earth. I knew about his interest watches but didn't realize the extent of his collection. Some really nice pieces there.
