Icon5 Pepsi bezel question

A while back, one of our TRF'ers posted pics of two different BLRO bezels. One of them had a pinkish red and slightly purplish blue.

Any idea where the thread went? I've tried numerous searches here on TRF, but I can't find it.

Reason I'm interested, is because a friend is questioning the color on his, and I thought the thread might help...

There is Hulk, There is Batman. Shouldn't the Pepsi called Superman?

No. I don't understand why they can't just be called what they are. BLNR, BLRO, LV, etc.

These comic book names are cringe worthy.

Pepsi and coke seem fine though.

The current blro has one bezel. That is it. They haven't changed the color and it matches the original gmt that had a bakelite bezel. The red is darker.

The old gmt, 5 digit, has a more traditional brighter red color.

Of course they can be. Those are the model names already.

There is definitely a variation in bezel colors. Some are more salmon colored instead of the red.

Exactly. I'll pass on all the nicknames - with my watches and everywhere else. It's not difficult (or shouldn't be!) to simply call a thing by its name without resorting to juvenile cutesiness.

I'd argue that the gaudy red of the 5-digit pieces isn't traditional, but merely more commonly expected, mostly by those unfamiliar with the founding tradition of the 6542.

I meant in the sense of what people consider the color red to be.

The lighting and camera angle have a lot to do with the colors appearing to be different. But...they're not.

Oh well, I thought the OP had pics of the two together, showing the difference. Also thought the AD fixed the problem by replacing the bezel.

Thanks for the responses......

It may have been my post because I cracked my bezel. Had it replaced at the RSC. When I went to pickup the watch, it had the salmon colored bezel. I told them I wasn't paying for this they told me only 1 color bezel. I left and brought my friends watch back the next day. Compared the bezels and they agreed. Ordered another bezel from Geneva. I waited another 2 months. That bezel was the right color. I may have posted side by side pics.

YES!, this sounds familiar. I will try to go back again and find the thread. Thanks.
