Sports Watches How many too many

The standard answer is either "however many you want" or "as many as possible" Clearly there are many other factors not limted to buying power and taste but to the collectors with between 5-8 watches how many Sports watches are enough? I have a stellar collection of 5 in a 6 watch collection but am on the fence about whether to add another or a more refined dress peice

The lines are so blurred between "dress" and "sports", there is no objective answer. Various lifestyles, opinions, sentimental feelings etc, ..........................

Depends on how you dress and your lifestyle. If your not a dressy person then sports watches are best and the amount comes down to how many you can handle wearing in rotation without losing interest in some

It probably depends on appropriateness to your usual attire. I have a job where I'm my own boss and dress in business causal everyday. I haven't worn a tie in years and there's no one who would tell me to. So, for me, every watch I own could be a sports watch if I choose. Then it comes down to what you like. I'm more of a nice sports watch on bracelet kind of a guy so my collection, if it were to get bigger would be disproportionately sport watches.

I think everyone needs a watch that is traditional dress watch.

This is the closest one that I have and actually, I wear it without dressing up.

As you can see, it's not a "luxury" brand.

I thought a 3-4 piece collection would do it,
Now I have 6 going on 7...
So just throw out the rules, get as many or as few as you like and can comfortably afford without stress.
Oh wait , that's a rule...

...And not sure I agree everyone needs a traditional dress watch, no date sub, 5711, AP jumbo are some sports watches that dress up nice.
I keep telling myself I need a dress watch, but keep buying sports watches...
In my collection, I have found the YG Sub, BLRO and white 5711 dress up very nice.
Though in all fairness, I don't really wear a tie, let alone a suit.

If I could afford more, there would be more!! I do have a JLC Reverso for dressy occasions though!

I don't think you can put a figure on it. You will know when you are done. If you are thinking about adding another one the go for it - you certainly wont get judged here!!

The good thing about having a few is...
U dont keep flipping as much, constantly loosing money, years later perhaps just to end up where you started - but with zero equity in it

I hope I never find out if there is such a thing as to many watches. It sure is fun looking for that next watch to add to the collection.

I don't think that there is such a thing as too many watches as long as you have the watches you want and wear. The longer I am into the watch game the more I know and have experienced. My thoughts are buy what you want and can afford and wear the watches that you own. When a watch drops out of the rotation and I do not have that special feeling about it I will move on from it.

As many as you would like is certainly the answer. Personally, I find myself much more drawn to sport watches than dress watches.
