What are the chances that the 3235 makes its way into the sub date next year?

Just as the title says, what does everyone think about the sub date finally getting the 3235 movement? The new SD has and so does the DJ41...but not the sub. Is it even possible for the 3235 to fit in the 40mm sub case? I wish Rolex would tell us these things.

3135 will remain the staple of the Sub.

I would be very surprised if Rolex makes any changes to the Sub or Sub date next year. For Rolex, it's too soon from the last mod (2012) in my opinion.

Slim to none. But if you ask me it's ridiculous it doesn't have a 70 plus hour pr when the tudor bb does.

I'll say slim chance. But hard to know for sure.
I really do like the extra power reserve and other new tech it adds.

I wish they would put it in and shave the lugs. I'd do a happy dance. I voted slim chance.

It's probably inevitable so it's got a chance for next year. Probably has more to do with how many 3135's they still have in inventory

Both cal 3135 and cal 3235 are 28.50mm in dimension although there a several new parts in the 3235 it's still based on the cal 3035/3135.IMHO the main plus the ball-bearing rotor and for some the extra power-reserve by a thinner spring-barrel and longer mainspring giving approx 70 hours. But speaking for myself thats not so important as 48 hours is perfectly adequate on the cal 3135..

Of course it will fit.
The only difference between one movement going in or another is a bit of machining and some clicks of a mouse button to make it happen.

It has been revealed the new movement is the same diameter as the old and I'd be willing to bet that was strategic to allow for easier adaptation into existing Mid-case architecture, but with a view not having a retro-fit capability to stop people easily swapping a new movement into an old model watch.
They may even make the locating pins for the dials in a different place while they are at it to make it even harder.

That would make a nice 214060, but we all know that any change to the Sub won't start with the 114060.

I didn't vote because I have no idea what Rolex will do.

I should imagine there will be a transition period with the entry level Rolex models being the last to get it.
Lets not forget the new design elements of the new model movement are still being Beta tested though none of it are necessarily revolutionary except for the Chronergy escapement.
Once Rolex feel the new movements are "bedded in' and meeting/exceeding expectations then it will be full steam ahead.

I think the new movement migrates into the Submariner when they upgrade the whole piece (case design, bracelet, etc).

I'd bet on a (double) red 10 anniversary Deepsea with 3235 caliber in basel 2018, not on the Sub.

Agree, they'll probably try and give some slower selling models this uplift first I would think.

You can bet when it does people will ask a premium for Subs with the 3135 like it is something rare or scarce.

Yeah, I kind of think there will be more drastic changes than just the movement when it finally does happen.

This is exactly what I thought too. Seems pretty inevitable that the Deepseas will get a 3235 too since the 'lower tier' SD now has it. A more tapered looking lug to bracelet like the SD43 would probably be implemented too. Lastly, not sure how likely a double red text would be......but it would definitely be an easy way to drum up sales on a model that is definitely slipping with the new SD offering.

I'm honestly more excited for Basel 2018 than I was for 2017. The launch of the new SD43 signifies (to me) Rolex is changing a few things diver wise. I'm curious what this means for the deepsea and sub.
