I picked up a Tudor this week with a white sticker. Never thought to question it to be honest. I am sure it is legit!

Both transparent and white are used by Rolex/Tudor. More than a QR code, it is a next gen 'bar' code. From a mechanical stand point, it is 'easier' for a scanner to 'read' the printing over a white backdrop vs polished steel.

The possibilities are endless. Factory, ship date, central warehouse (Rolex has a BIG storage area in Dallas/FtWorth), inventory...they can track every movement/place that specific timepiece has been through from manufacturing to point of sale.
Once the watch is sold, the warranty card is swiped (like a credit card) and this: a) starts the watch warranty b) tells Rolex that piece has been sold c) takes it off the dealer's inventory and d) places that item on the next shipment to re-supply |

Somebody scan it with a QR Code reader. I bet it takes you to Rolex's webpage for that watch.

It is not a QR code. It is a 2D Data Matrix code. You could down load an app on your mobile phone and read the code.

I tried it before, didn't do anything. I have other watches that have it laser etched in the back case and it doesn't work either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
