Using PayPal with "trusted" seller

Would you gamble using PayPal with someone who is not providing the serial numbers, at least the first few, from the watch & paperwork? PayPal protects the buyer from any counterfeit item so is it worth the gamble? I'm leaning toward yes but curious to your thoughts.

You should be first and foremost concerned with the seller. Are they reputable?

I only buy/sell from someone who has a verifiable set of references and track record.

Payment in any form is a formality at that point.

Not for watches per say but have great feedback, it's an eBay deal. Everything looks legit as it's a full set, etc. but the communication is a bit odd. My biggest fear is it's stolen but if that's the case hopefully Rolex has the serial number and the guy will get arrested. If that's not the case, perhaps he / she is just an odd bird I guess. I try to be as open minded as possible but we're all different to some degree, just odd behavior when you're exchanging thousands of dollars.

Deal entirely though eBay and you're about as covered as you can get.

Paypal is ok as long as you do not pay outside of eBay. If they request that you pay by a friends and family payment, then walk away. A friends and family payment does not have any payment coverage.

Based on what you said here, I'd pass.

If I'm spending hard earned money I want to have no nagging doubts whatsoever.

I never provide serial numbers to anyone until a watch is paid for. I would not say this is uncommon.

Correct but if I pay PayPal for "goods & services" I'm covered. I've purchased expensive bikes & bike parts from Craigslist across the country this way. It still feels odd though. Also, the watch was purchased in Italy and he's in the US. Again, not that it's false but adds to the oddity, especially since it's only 12 months old and an under market price......I'm hoping he's just hard up.

Correct. Good and services is the way to pay. The rule of thumb is, if PayPal fees are paid then you are covered.

Thanks all. And just got off the phone with PayPal and my question was around insurance. If the value is more than $750, the seller must get signature confirmation. Therefore if the item is lost in transit or delivers and then gets taken, the buyer is covered with a full refund. Looks like I'm all clear, but still feels weird.

Lastly, I asked for us to talk live and he's not even addressing it. VERY ODD SITUATION.

It is not worth the headache if it is a bad deal, Better to find a trusted seller here and save yourself weeks of back and forth.

If I had the slightest bit of doubt I would walk. I would, and have bought Rolex from trusted sellers, no doubt, complete honesty, no exaggeration of condition, in one case the opposite, they made a minor clasp flaw to sound a lot worse than it was. Complete satisfaction, I'm not a gambler, I keep my hard earned money safe and don't risk it. Good luck. Caveat emptor.

I used paypal with a trusted seller and everything worked out fine in the end but it was a hassle. I had to return the watch because it was not as described and the seller agreed. The seller immediately refunded the money but it took paypal over a week to deposit it back in my account....again, it all worked out but it was a pain.

I am looking to buy a 14060M

Found BECKERTIME.

He REFUSES to give serial number or date of watch.
I requested only first letter - his response "Causes Confusion"

Will look at trusted sellers here
Thanks
