RSC experience

I just got my GMT-IIc back from the NYC RSC. The watch was about 8.5 years old and the hour hand stopped moving. I decided to have a complete overhaul based on the age of the piece. I wanted to report that I had an excellent experience dealing with this service center. I had to call them multiple times (shipping, billing, etc) and they were beyond professional and courteous each time. The work that was done looks terrific and I'm basically wearing a new watch again. I read a few negative reviews about the NYC service center on this page and just wanted to add my positive experience. YMMV. Now I need to figure out where to get my Omega Speedy overhauled.

Nice. Not sure where in NJ you are. But I would and have brought my Omega right to Omega in Secaucus. Not sure if they still have walk up drop off service though.

I have read horror stories about the Secausus service center. Anyone have any recent reviews. I have read good things about Nesbits in Seattle. Thanks.

Did you have to pay or was it complements of Rolex?

The issue you had is known well by Rolex. It is a flaw in the 3186 / 3187 movements.
There are lots of posts here you can find that go over this problem. In a lot of cases Rolex fixes them for free even after the warranty has expired.

Thanks for the information. I actually read a lot about that issue on this forum before I sent in the watch. Unfortunately I ended up paying $750 for the service overhaul. The watch was almost 9 years old so it was due, but it would have been nice of them to mention the known defect. If the watch was newer I would have made a bigger deal of it.

Where to get panerai overhauled then? How often/frequent should it be overhauled and how much does it cost?

Glad to hear a positive. Many times I think we only see the issues when someone does not have a good experience.

NYC service center did my YM Submariner.
It would not carry over for more than a day, it now runs quite properly.
Only problem was they insisted on spelling the name of the little town where I live wrong...if sent to the wrong town it would have ended up 100 miles away. Zip code was the clincher of course.

Same issue with mine about 5-6 years ago. Local AD sent it out free of charge even though I didn't buy it there. Come to think of it that was unusually nice of them. Dallas Service Center

NY RSC damaged case of my GMT II earlier this year during a service but if course they rectified it. A log of other negative press for that service center so nice to hear a posture story and hope we see more like this to rebuild confidence that they are getting better!!

RSC experience

I know that we tend to hear the horror stories and not the good stories. It's human nature to vent and not so much to praise. Good to hear there actually are some satisfied customers for the NYC RSC.

I just sent my GMT2 Pepsi to Dallas for service. It's an 18 year old watch with an unknown service history, so even though it's been running like a top and keeping good time, I wanted to ensure the seals were intact and that the watch has maintained its rated water resistance. I'm in NJ too and could have delivered my GMT2 to NYC in person, but I chose Dallas because of the reputation vs NYC's rep. Maybe I'm being a nervous Nellie, but this is my grail watch.
