I heard something scary today

There is a previous thread about buying a Panerai without papers. This is a quasi follow up to that. I went to my Rolex/Panerai AD and she told me a story about a fake Panerai that an individual brought in for service. It made it through. They received estimates back on the repair from the panerai service center. It wasn't until the the go ahead was given for repair and watch was disassembled did the repair center realize it was not genuine. It was a story that I heard first hand from a woman I've done business with for years who isn't given to exaggeration. I guess now more than ever it's buyer beware.

Some fakes are made from stolen part watches so it is possible but do consider the source of he story. An AD that wants to sell you a watch.

I wasn't buying today. I was in for service. I trust her as we are friends outside of the shop and and I have no reason to doubt the truthfulness of her 1st hand account of the facts. Enjoy
