Silly trade or not (based on current collection)?
I'm thinking of trading my Sub in for an Omega Speedmaster Prof Moonwatch which will release a fair bit of funds in the process. Long term I'm wanting to add an elusive Daytona C to the collection too.
What are your thoughts on replacing the Sub with a Moonwatch. Would it be wiser to save and add? Photo of current small collection below... Open to all your thoughts and suggestions. Appreciated, Niki |

I tend to never trade down in value. The cash would have to be 3.5k in this case.

If you're getting enough cash and are looking for a Daytona, it's not a bad move. I agree it would have to be about $3500 in cash depending on condition/completeness (box, papers, etc.), but you still have the Batman so I don't think it's necessarily a bad move for your collection if you really want a Speedy or chronograph.

Its not like you can't find another Sub, or Speedy...they"re both a dime a dozen. Just get a nice amount of cash in return

I won't. if you don't like the Sub anymore, why not just sell it and save the money for the Daytona.

Personally, I wouldn't trade the classic 114060 for anything. I'd just save up and grab the Daytona when you can.

I would definitely add a Speedy Pro, but keep your classic Sub. Every watch collection should have at least one Sub, IMHO. But I think a Speedy should also be in any collection.
Brand new Moonwatches, with those extra straps and other goodies that now come in the complete set, can be had for $3400, about $2800ish for clean pre-owned. It's the most iconic chronograph out there, and that money only makes a slight dent in your pursuit of a Daytona-C anyway. |

Simply put, no. Wouldn't do that trade. I would add a speedmaster, or trade the non-rolex pieces.

I would. To me the Sub and BLNR fill similar roles, although I'd personally take the Sub over the BLNR, but that's just me.

I'd flip the BLNR toward the DaytonaC and keep the rest.

The Speedmaster Professional is a beautiful watch and one I want to add to my collection, but don't trade the Sub in for it. No comparison and you would be trading down. You can get a brand new Speedy, full set for around $3350!

I would keep the sub and sell the other thing on the left to get the speedy. As others have said I think every collection needs a sub and a speedy. Save up and keep waiting and sell the Nomos to fund the Daytona C preferably with the white face. Then I would add a Patek, VC or JLC dress watch sometime down the line and then you're done.

I am a sucker for chronographs but it sounds like you really want the daytona. I would sell the sub and save up for what you really want!

I would do it. The SUB and GMT are pretty similar and the addition of a Speedy would really round out your excellent collection!

I would save and add, both belong in any serious collection

If you plan on getting a Daytona-C, having a Speedmaster MOTM will seem redundant.

Keep the sub. The ND sub, is IMO the most pure of the role sports watches. I will reacquire shortly.

The Speedmaster is one of the most disappointing watch purchases I've ever made. In years of ownership, I may have worn it 5 or 6 times. You will regret the trade.

Dump the Nomos and the watch on left (Longines?), and get a MOTM. Then save for the Daytona if it's a must have (you could possibly enjoy the MOTM more). Eventually add a Reverso for a dress watch in the future.
The ND sub and MOTM should be in any collection !

Add a speedmaster then when you get bored of the Sub and speedmaster, trade them both for a Daytona.

If finances allow then save and add the Speedmaster.
I read a lot of people here saying that every collection should have a Speedy. I've looked on many occasions and it does absolutely nothing for me in any of its incarnations. I'd rather have a Deep Black, but that's just me.

I'd keep the Sub and add the speedy. I love mine and wear it just as much as my other "nicer" watches. There's just something about a Speedy that's awesome. I have the moon phase version
