I just got my vintage Oysterdate Precision back from servicing by Rolex UK.

It was bought in 1962, and had never been serviced before(!) Rolex hung on to it for about 3 months!

They did a really great job on it - polishing the case, and it looks like they gave me a new seconds hand, crown and caseback. The crystal, dial and other hands are all still original.

Here's a shot of it - I really like the creamy white dial, and the simple design.

I said it many times before.....Vintage is awesome!!!!

I wish that Rolex would forget supersizing and re introduce updated vintage models with cool hands and dials!

The original second hand was black. The new one looks like a very dark blue.

I am surprised that Rolex was prepared to service your watch given it is 45 y.o. but that is heartening.

Beautiful. Love the leather strap. Looks like Rolex did a great job - but 3 months !! Still, the wait looks worth it.

Fantastic looking watch. And kudos to Rolex for servicing. I've heard complaints that they won't service some vintage pieces.

Hmm... maybe you're right... I have to be honest and say I never looked at the old seconds hand that closely - it looked black to me but then it could have been dark blue also.

By the way, your 1956 piece is absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks! And kudos indeed to Rolex.

While they were assessing it initially to give me an estimate for the service, they told me that sometimes vintage pieces were sent to some other specialists to be worked on. Luckily this time they felt comfortable they could do it in-house.

One thing they did mention was that due to the age of the watch, they couldn't give me an international guarantee on the service work, as not all countries might have the parts for such an old watch - the guarantee I got is only good for the UK.

Classic vintage.....absolute beauty!! A brown croc strap would look terrific with that....and very dressy too!!
