Am I crazy?
Hey folks, I recently received a 005 from David that was smooth as butter. My question is has anyone ever brushed their polished case? Would it hurt the value if I decided to one day sell? Thoughts or pictures would be appreciated.

My $0.02 would be ...
If you plan on keeping the watch, then value doesn't really matter. But altering the case finish will hurt the resale value (IMO). If you plan on selling it or think you will sell it one day, I say let the polish stay. Even if you decided to do it, The brushed finish can be "reversed" with a polish. Here's a brushed PAM000 http://forums.watchuseek.com/f75/new...l#post40508490 I think it looks well done and looks like a 176 case finish, but brighter. (SS vs Ti) I like it, and was considering it for my 114 at some point.

I like the look but was thinking leave the bezel polished. It was a thought but maybe down the road I will do this. These damn watches always have me thinking. It’s a bad addiction

but if you ask me to pick between 005 and 164. I would go with 005 95% of the time, and 164 only if I really need the "date" AND I can't have my cell phone with me. :)
005 has cleaner dial lay out, and I always prefer my PAM to be manually wind (more historic). Both has solid case back so that's a wash. And depends on model year, some later 164 has the strap quick change feature, which I don't like. I prefer mine, again, with simple screw lugs (less things to break).

I picked up a G series from David in pretty good shape for what I think to be a good price. What got my attention was the dial and the second hands look cool to me. Now I just need to find straps that fit my fat wrist.

It's an easy "fix" to re-polish it if needed, so, IMHO, go with what you like now.

Brushed Panerai cases show wear more easily.

I think the Betterini case looks great brushed and if it can be reversed, why not? There's only one person you need to keep happy and that's you, not some hypothetical future purchaser.

I would leave it, IF you ever decide to sell it is better to have it in original condition...you never know.
