Icon7 Hi Guys! New to Forum! Just got my first Rolex! (Need Advice!)

Hey guys!

I am brand new to the forum! I am loving all your gorgeous photos of your Rolexes!

My best friend and I just got our very first Rolexes and we're in love!

After much deliberation, I decided to go with the two tone Rose Gold Datejust in the 36MM size, with diamond markers and the classic Jubilee band.
My friend Debbie got the same exact watch, but in two tone yellow gold and steel. We both love our watches, but the only thing I keep wondering in my mind is if I should've gotten this watch with the Oyster band, instead of the Jubilee. I know it's a matter of preference, and I will probably get equal answers telling me to stick with the Jubilee, as I will get those who definitely prefer the Oyster, but I thought I would still post some photos of my gorgeous watch for feedback.

I will be wearing this watch every day, I am in the arts, (writer, producer) and I lived in NYC. I know the Jubilee band is more dressy than casual, so that's why I wonder if the Oyster may have been a better choice for every day.

Anyway, here are some photos, I would love to hear some feedback on how it looks on. Also, I had considered buying an additional Oyster band in order to switch it out from time to time, but I am hearing the bands cost nearly half the price of the watch, so that would just be ridiculous, I rather just get another Datejust for that price! LOL

Anyway, I am glad to be here and look forward to everyone's posts! I am new to the Rolex world, but I am already in love!

Cheers!

Julie

Welcome.

The Jubilee is the traditional bracelet for the DJ; the one that it was "born" with.

That is a beautiful and timeless classic on its originally intended bracelet, you made a great choice.

I wore a 36mm with a Jubilee for many years. It is a very comfortable bracelet and is the 'intended' bracelet for that watch. I wouldn't change it.

On the larger 41mm DJ's the combo of the larger flutes and Jubilee can be a bit more flashy. Rolex offers more combinations to fit personal tastes. I intend to get that watch ne day and still haven't decided on which bezel and bracelet to get. But if I were buying a 36mm I'd go with the fluted bezel and jubilee.

Bracelet looks right, and I'll add that the ring, nails, and watch in your third photo look perfect together!

I had the same thought as I glanced at that photo. Looks very smart.

Hi Julie! Glad to have another gal onboard Welcome to TRF and congrats on your new DJ I can feel your excitement!

I’ve had a DJ 36mm on jubilee and it certainly is classic and dressy, but personally I prefer the versatility of the oyster bracelet. It really is personal preference. Did you try on the same configuration on oyster?

From another lady TRF member, a warm welcome!

This is the latest for me, a 35mm Yacht Master, as I prefer a sporty look. I bought my first Rolex as a sophomore in college, new from an authorized dealer, for $675! I won't say what year, but it was a long time ago as you can imagine!

You've chosen beautifully, enjoy the classic piece you've wisely chosen for many years, or until you're ready for your next one, whichever comes first!

Hi there!!! Thank you for the warm welcome!!! I actually never thought to try on the Oyster Bracelet in the store, it wasn't until after I purchased it, (and it was too late to exchange), that I realized I should have tried it on. My other close friend recently got the same exact watch for her anniversary but with the oyster band, and when I tried it on, I loved it. I honestly love both bands, I really also do love the oyster band because it's more casual and seems cooler to me.
I am going to attach a photo of me trying on her watch with the Oyster band yesterday. LOL

I wish there was a way to just switch out bands like with the Michele Watches, but it's not as simple, (and much more expensive) with the Rolex....sigh LOL

Here are some pics! Thanks again for your response, you are all so nice here!
xo

I think a good general rule is anytime the bezel is fated the jubilee tends to look better. Smooth bezel oyster looks better. But even then, there are exceptions! I love the new DJ41 smooth bezel on the jubilee.

For me. Two tone Datejust with fluted bezel should always be on the jubilee, it’s a lovely bracelet in two tone!

Good choices!

Hey there, thanks for the warm welcome!! I just posted a long reply to you with more photos but I don't see it yet, maybe it takes a few min for the photos to get approved? Anyway I had written that I tried on my other friends watch yesterday with the Oyster band....same watch as mine but with the oyster band and I loved it. I love the sporty look of it. I am torn honestly, and I wish I could just get both bands and switch them out as I want! I am going to wait to see if my reply shows up with the photos before posting the pics again! You guys are all so nice, so glad to see other girls on here as well!! xoxo

Oh thank you so much! And I agree that the fluted bezel does go beautifully with the jubilee band! I don't think anyone can go wrong with either band, it's a matter of preference, I guess I just love how the Oyster band looks more causal and chunky. In a perfect world, I would have both bands to switch out whenever I felt like it LOL

Thanks for the response and warm welcome!

They both look great Julie, welcome! You're a writer/creative and producer/money hustler? Straddling both sides is pretty rare, I've had to do the same in my time.

Congratulations and welcome! I wear a 36mm TT Datejust with Jubilee and I’m a fairly large guy, but I love everything about it. I have always thought “ladies” sizes don’t really make sense, the 36 looks perfect on your wrist. Enjoy your fine watch!

Hmmm, don’t see any pics. Ok so you love it with oyster as well!? I just love that oyster can go sporty or dressy, plus you have it in two tone. And it’s more adjustable. But you have to go with your instinct!

Welcome to TRF Julie and Congratulations on your
stunning and beautiful DJ !!!
It looks fantastic on your wrist !!!

The jubilee band looks fabulous and fits
the 36 mm DJ just right . My wife has a two tone
yellow gold and steel 36 mm DJ . It has the white face
with Roman numerals and a diamond bezel, she loves it ...
You chose wisely , enjoy it in good health !!!

My first Rolex (bought in 1974) was a two tone Datejust and it only came with the jubilee, so to me yours looks the way it should look.

Of course others will have other opinions, but to me, the DJ on jubilee just looks right.

Congrats and welcome the forum, where you will hear a gazillion different opinions on virtually every subject. Naturally my opinion is the correct one but even that is up for debate.
