What is a Super Case (resend)
Dear All--I think my first posting vanished. Here it is again.
I'm wondering--what is a "super case"? I've seen a few references to it--not sure what it is. Thanks! |

The new GMT2 is considered a supercase. It's still the same diametre but the case is beefed up. Makes it look a little bit bigger, hence 'super case'.
The current submariner uses the old style case (The stainless version). The new gold version uses the 'super case' |

There is quite a noticeable difference in the two cases when it comes to the lugs and crown guards. They are much thicker in the supercase. I don't care for the thicker lugs because they make the bracelet seem disproportional in size and the case doesn't flow as well into the band imo. I do like the larger crown guards however. They give the watch a beefier more substantial look.

"SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE" "SUPERCASE"

I have one and love it! Sits better on the wrist and looks bigger - beefier, more solid, heavier, stronger - if that's possible.

My name is Randy. I was disavowed from TZ back in March of this year. My "handle" at that time was also, "Steelinox." I coined the term, "Supercase" when the then anticipated first images of the now current GMT MASTER II Ceramic appeared first as an 18K model. The "root" term was derived from the old name ROLEX used to use for their hidden clasped 18K bracelets back in the 80's, Jubilee, thus, "Super Jubilee bracelet" was used. I coined the new ceramic GMT's, "Supercase" to follow in that tradition once used by ROLEX for these new "casings" ROLEX developed, though as you can see not "bigger" in diameter but "visually bigger" by virtue of the wider lugs giving it that beefier look. Happy collecting... UPDATE: Incidentally, Jake Erlich of rolexblog.blogspot.com has an article about another Super cased ROLEX from long ago if you are interested: http://rolexblog.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html Thanks, Randy |

Hi Randy, thanks for your input man too cool.
It does bring back fond memories when we were hanging out so bad for Rolex to release the Stainless Steel GMT-IIC "Supercase" and for 2+ years (18K and then TT) we had to wait to get our hands on that baby The supercase is coming........yeah right thanks Rolex next year Man you hyped up the "supercase" so much I was going out of my brain Rock on man
