Need help: new 116710LN or 116710 BLNR

Desperately need your guidance on whether to buy the Black GMT or Batman. I am trading in my Air King which I have had for 9 years. My heart is set on Batman, which I have found (5 - 6 hour round trip drive from my house). However, my local AD includes the first overhaul for free with any purchase. Naturally the local AD doesn’t have Batman, just the Black GMT. Does anyone else think about total cost of ownership or am I overthinking this. I could always trade in the Batman in 7 years for a different/ new model thus negating the overhaul value of the negotiation. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Looking to pull the trigger next Wednesday. Thanks!

Get the one you want and don't worry about the free service. It won't be needed for a long time.

Agreed. You’ll have years of wishing you’d gone with the other one you think you wanted more and then going but I like this one a lot too. Is that worth a free service? I don’t think so. You are paying this much already why skimp on saving a small amount more 5 to 10 years in the future (NPV being much less value today)?

If the BLNR is the watch you want you should get it. The free service is nice but it could be 10 years or more before it is needed.

Go for the BLNR - it's value on the grey market is just insane at the moment so you can't lose.

Follow your heart. Both are great GMT variations, but you should always follow your heart. I’d tell you the same thing even if things were flipped.

BLNR all the way. I love the built-in adventure with the road trip that comes along with this purchase. Are you in the car yet? :-)

Since I am not really a fan of the BLNR go for the LN and buy grey, you'll save lots of cash

Thanks for starting this topic, OP. How easy is it to tell the difference between the LN and the BLNR from about 10 feet away? One of the things I like about the z-blue is that I can see all the dynamics of the dial and seconds hand up-close as the wearer, but to someone talking to me from a few feet away it just looks like a regular steel watch. My only concern with BLNR would be if the blue part of the bezel is obvious/very noticeable a few feet away.

get the one you want and set aside a bit of money every year for the service. you're going to have to live with the choice you make. might as well be the first choice.

Wife gifted BLNR on my 40th Bday. She was instantly sold on its looks! You can't go wrong with it.

I've owned both and they're each great in their own respect. Have you tried both on to see if one just feels right?

Currently I have the BLNR and the LN has been traded away. I think it's going to stay that way moving forward.

There is literally not much difference between BLNR and LN. Just a half blue ceramic and blue GMT hand. If you don't care about those, get the LN.

But...

If you desire a BLNR, and are only settling for a LN simply due to price difference, don't settle and buy the BLNR. The nagging feeling of 'should have bought that' will never leave you alone.

Buy Batman, and everytime you smile because you own the watch you really want put a dollar in a pot. By the time your watch needs the overhaul take the money out of the pot, pay for the overhaul and with the money left in the pot go on vacation.
