Finally pulled the trigger... 2 years later!

Hi everyone,

It's been a couple of years since my last post. The picture below is of me trying on the BLNR and ultimately not buying it. Today I paid in full and now i await the phone call. I'm 6th on the list and the AD informed me that they had 3 last month so it could be as soon as February.

I've had on going concerns that 40mm would be too small for my 8 inch wrist however most members here have been supportive with the odd dissenting voice. I've put that out of my mind now and decided that there is no other watch that comes close to this (except maybe the BLRO but that's just not feasible).

I currently own a Tag Heuer Link Calibre S which is a watch I fell in love with long before I could afford it! I'm debating whether to keep it or not as it's unlikely to see much wrist time anymore.

As for the BLNR, my 2 year deliberation has cost me £600, but that's life I suppose.

As a first time Rolex owner, what can i expect when I collect the watch? I've been reading lots of posts about stickers, coffins, extra links, cloths even umbrellas! I'm keen to maximise the opportunity but less keen on embarrassing myself!

Should I expect to pay for the cost of an extra link or two? Given the cos t of the watch I was kinda hoping that they might be complimentary.

Massive congratulations you will not be disappointed, hopefully you won’t be waiting too long.
I’m not sure if you’ll have to stump up for a link or not it will depend on the AD.I picked up a Dblue earlier this year and AD sourced on FOC.

Its reassuring to get the forum's positive opinions on any subject, but remember, that's all they are, opinions.

Regardless of what others may say, ultimately YOU have to do what's best for YOU.

The GMT looks fine on your wrist to me, but that's just my opinion! ... lol.

If I listened regarding watch sizes I would probably never have bought a 47mm Panerai - even I think its a little on the large side sometimes especially when compared to my 40mm Sub, but hey, so what, I like it that's all that really matters!

btw, the £600 extra it cost you while making up your mind will soon be forgotten. You will enjoy the GMT for far longer than you will remember the purchase price.

That is a fine choice...I think it will serve you well for many years to come.

As far as the Tag, you might as well hang on to it, as it won't bring much resale value, unfortunately. I have a few old watches like that...I don't wear them anymore but just nice to have around for the sentiment if nothing else.
