Patek is the only "upgrade" from a Rolex for me. But I'm nowhere near old enough to wear a Patek, yet! That's like driving a Cadillac, maybe in another 30 years.

Rolex will always be my #1, sentimentally anyways!

Without the fancy razzle dazzle in the equation.

1. Rolex
2. Patek
3. Jaeger
4. Blacpain
5, Breitling

But if with all the bells and whistles
1. Patek
2. Jaeger
3. Blacpain
4. Rolex
5. Breitling

If it's basically across the range then yes, Patek, JLC, Blancpain, Rolex and Breitling but if it's a head to head on certain types of watches that i like then Rolex are up there.

I'm not a great fan of any of the Pateks, Blancpain have the fifty fathoms that i like but it's a bit too big, JLC have a couple that i love and Rolex have a load that i like, Breitling well erm, they erm do tell the time i suppose

"Quality" is a relative term. Patek, JLC and BP are among the elite watchmakers, and they certainly make some beautiful models that sell for much more than the average Rolex.

However, I'm in the military and wear my watches as a tool of the trade. I wouldn't hesitate to wear my Seadweller diving, in the field, or while filling sandbags. I wouldn't wear a Patek, JLC or BP in my line of work, nor would they likely stand up to the rigors of what I would be asking them to do on a daily basis.

That is what sets Rolex at the pinnacle for me. There are some quartz models of Breitling's that I place in the same category, but overall the I think Rolex is the most durable and well designed. That puts them at the top of my list.

Oh really? Age is sooo passe. Patek Nautilus is just as young as a AP Royal Oak or a JLC Extreme World (Rossi 46).

And I'm only 24.

Here is a graph that I believe is close to correct in terms of where brands stand. I don't agree with everything though... but most seem to make sense.

I really liked it said somewhere in this form that one is old enough for whatever one can buy himself :)

for the rankings, I really think its about what one likes..I mean even if JLC make the most 'complicated' and 'horological achievement' watches, I dont want one cuz I dont like many of em..and so goes for most brands...so my ranking would me my personal choice...but here it is anyway:

PP
BP
ROLEX
JLC
BREITLING

the later three, I almost place in the same category..no offense meant to any particular's fans :)..just my very humble placing :)

That brand breakdown chart makes sense to me but I'd move Rolex to the left. Rolex do what they do very well - robust, consistent design, few complications. . . etc.

As much as I like Breitling they really are being compared to a different leage. Enlgish Barclays vs American MLS, who wins? LOL.

Breitlings, in their league are very good watches. Omega/Tag/Cartier/Panerai (Except in the house 8/10 days) and even Hublot. Basically versus every ETA/Valjoux movement watch, Breitlings DEFFINETLY hold their own. Because other then the 130$ ETA movement, all the rest is aesthetics and decorations. Whether you agree or not, this is fact.

1.Patek.
2.Blancpain.
3.JLC.
4.Rolex.

I think it was a typo since "O" and "P" are neighbors on the keyboard.

Apples and Oranges

Out of the watches listed, I believe Rolex makes the most robust and reliable watch.

Patek, JLC and BP are among the tops of what they do. These companies, for the most part make dress watches and watches with complications such as power reserve, moon phases, minute repeaters, tourbillions (SP?).

It's hard to compare them.

Thanks for the informative chart ... who and how was the survey conducted?

I am surprised to see Cartier is almost twice more precious than Rolex and has a bigger market share than Omega.
