1803 Day-Date Real or Not
Came across this on Craigs List here in VA. I'm a little suspect...it looks like a fake case and dial, with an aftermark band, and then a real movement. Or am I totally wrong?

...NICE example...
...genuine.
...it is difficult to find them with the original hands on them like that one. ...if the seller is willing for folks to view it in person, I do NOT think he is hiding anything. GO LOOK AT IT!!! Stan. |

Definately looks genuine. Notice the polishing on the side of he lugs, it's a little rounded instead of being square. Looks like a nice vintage piece.

The head is fine, but the bracelet is aftermarket. If you make an offer adjust the price for it.

The bracelet looks like a newer Rolex bracelet, I don't know if it's aftermarket/fake or not. If the bracelet is original Rolex, the asking price is still very fair.

I just saw color variation between the band and the case...so I thought it was suspect. I didn't think Rolex actually printed 18kt on the band anywhere.
Assume it is aftermarket...what would you guys offer? I already have an 07 ss datejust, so I'm not really looking. But if the price is right, I'll buy it and stash it away if it is worth doing that. Thanks. |
