116622 YM with platinum dial is awesome!

I have always loved the YachtMaster. I thought of it as a sophisticated submariner. Anyway, got the blue dial 4 years ago. Really loved it. it was wonderful. But then at last, got a little bit tired of it and so traded it for the new yacht Master with the platinum dial. Man – what a difference! It is incredibly elegant, beautiful, understated, sleek and incredibly gorgeous! Couldn’t be happier. Surprised at my thoughts since I had seen pictures of the platinum dial yachtmaster many times and was underwhelmed. It never moved me. However in the flesh – it rocks!

The pre-2006 is my favorite. Congrats, what's the dial look like. It's the best dial ever made when it was blasted.

Congrats

Got the older 16622 .took me while to appreciate the watch. I think it's one of the best Rolex has made.

I have the blue dial and I love it but I'd love the platty dial just as much if I ever got my paws on one.

I had the platinum dial and traded it for blue dial as it was easier to see. I loved the look of the platinum but I found it hard to see in some lighting conditions. Great watches. Very comfortable.

I saw the older model on on a guy in the seat next to me (airplane). The watch looks really nice. But I wonder if it will not get boring, maybe because it is grey.

Not to me, I have the older one and in sunlight the dial is a feast for the eyes.
It wears super comfy with its lugs following the wrist and the way the end links stick out makes it a very balanced watch which is underrated by many.

It is really, really understated and beautiful. Now I have also bought the rose gold Yachtmaster with the oysterflex band and the two of them rock!! Don't know which one I like better! Both are beautiful! I LOVE the Yachtmaster!

Love all of the YM iterations. The platinum is stunning. I opted for the blue for readability. I also really love the new rhodium. I'm contemplating getting an OP with the rhodium dial just because I love the rhodium dial.

I love the platinum YM, especially the 5 digit reference. The dial is a stunner, and while some consider it boring or too monochromatic I think it is really a stand out reference.

This is a beauty. Unfortunately it is discontinued. It is very hard to find the brand new stock.

The "Sandblast" platinum dial really is beautifully irresdescent.
I have the 16622 , which has a coarser grained dial than the 116622.
It is a touch monotone, but the delicious red seconds hands warms up the dial.
I even changed the black date wheel to a red one. Bloody expensive the source, but adore the look. Thanks Jocke!

Did the bracelet change from the 16622 to the newer one?

I'm sure I'm not alone here but the original SS/Plat Yachtmaster was one of the watches I owned twice. Got the first one when they first came out (2000?) and it was a "hot" item. 9 months later I had the opportunity to purchase one of the last new white dialed 16520's so had to sell it. A couple of years later I ended up buying a second one. Long gone now but not forgotten. I've always thought of it as the "dress Submariner."
