Outdoor safe ideas ( buried or disguised)

Let’s say I have a some cash or jewelry I don’t want to keep inside the house neither at the bank,my idea is to bury in the backyard a waterproof and whatever you may throw at it proof container. Links and ideas ?

Why not just a safe deposit box at a bank?

No safe deposit box. I’m not a drug lord whatsoever and it’s a totally legit stuff we are talking about but Uncle Sam doesn’t need to know my business.

Why?

No-one knows what you keep in a box at the Bank.

You can bury it in my backyard. Nobody will ever find it there.

I’m going to be the odd ball guy here...I’ve thought the same thing. No banks. No safe deposit boxes. Nothing illegal...having a stash of cash or gold that can’t be accessed by anyone but me or my spouse. I agree with the OP. Short of putting it in a safe in your house where to put it.

Little paranoid are we lol! I'm a CPA and have dealt with many a tax audit over the last 30 yrs and have never seen the IRS seize a safe deposit box of someone not involved in clearly criminal activity.

Get a long shovel.
Dig 120'
lay down a platform of oak logs at 10' intervals
Cover with brush
dig a side tunnel in to flood the shaft if the 8th platform is breached.

Watch people spend $100M trying to find what you buried

Safe deposit boxes are so cheap that it seems ridiculous to me.

I have two currently and I'm looking for a third.

I much prefer that to burying something in the ground.

Just remember to mark the spot with an X in case you forget where you buried it.

Large PVC pipe, capped and sealed. Put items in ziplock with desiccant packets, or vacuseal bag and place in pipe. Install caps and seal with PVC glue.

Oh, yeah, you may want to delete this thread.

During the recent fires out west someone had buried silver and gold coins in a pipe when they went back the house was gone, but when they opened the pipe it was all melted together.

Trouble with burying is often people get old and forget where they buried it.

Anyway... A PVC pipe sealed with glue and caps at both ends is the current trend. Military cartridge boxes (Metal with rubber seal) work really well too. Go at least four foot deep to avoid accidental findings.

Best of luck to you.

That depends where you're located. Here they are $400/year and up, and you might wait for years to get one

I have a box in Philadelphia that costs $45 annually

Mason jars. They last forever. Pelican cases are good too.

How do you plan to guard this buried treasure? If it’s portable enough for you to bury it, it’s portable enough for thieves (or divorce attorneys) to steal it.

I'm paying about $45/yr for two here in Albuquerque. If I get the one I want I can drop the smaller one.

A person I once met made a 24x24 cube out of fiberglass for the sole purpose of stashing cash underground. In fact, there were a few different fiberglass vessels created for this.

Why in God's boots would you want to stash valuables outside? Sorry, that's nuts.

Outdoor safe ideas ( buried or disguised)

Ask and you shall receive. God bless the prepper community. FWIW I own one. DO NOT do any kind of “disguise”; the chance it is discovered is too high. http://offgridwarehouse.com/store/pr...ge-capacity-2/

Then charges against you are of criminal nature. I believe they need a court order to gain access to a safety deposit box.

Hopefully you aren’t writing this from your home. As your address is now known.

I would not. You can secure your home much better than the yard or open area. A solution maybe multiple safes inside your residence that are concealed. A larger safe which could be the target should someone get in and several smaller ones, hidden and secured. Just a thought.

I dunno, but I'd be more paranoid having valuables buried somewhere in my backyard vs. Conspiracy theories of IRS etc.
