V-serial 16600?
Does anyone know if they're still coming out w/ a V-serial SD4000 or did they stop at M-serial? Thanks!

It looks like the pictures were deleted in the following thread, but I'll insert the link anyway.

With all due respect, it's not that I disbelieve you, it's just that I still have not seen any real evidence that a 'V' exists.
Honestly, for all I know the 'V' is bogus... G |

I've seen the pictures and they only show the serial card with a V Serial. When I see the V serial on the lug then I'll believe it.

That's the best way to confirm that. I've heard V serial for SD in Japan from another forum as well.

why is it so difficult to believe there is V serial out there on the SD? What's such a big deal about it??? ROLEX just said they stopped production on the SD but those in the pipeline are now coming out ...

Seems a lot of people do not want to accept the fact that there is V-serial SD hit the world... may I assume that majority of those people own a M-serial SD and was hoping M-serial to carry more value?

If the price is good I'll get one V-serial as well. But it's not like the GMT-Master ll where the movement is updated so there is difference between the Z (most) and M serials.

Those who bought a M and think that is the last number do not want to accept there is a V out there. As said before, what is the big deal? doesnt matter it is a M or V, it IS 16600 sea-dweller. have it and enjoy it. |

Cannot see why the SD has not changed in away since 1989 except for non lug holes and higher price. And there must thousands up-on thousands of them around never heard of any Rolex watch date letter ever becoming collectable.Dont think any Rolex watch made in the last 10 years will become really collectable just too many of them around. And myself have not seen anything in black and white saying that the Rolex SD is being discontinued only hear say

yup, I agree that a lot of people got caught in the buying buildup based on a belief that M was last ... there was no official word from ROLEX saying M was last ... only that SD is being discontinued and it is only common sense to assume that there must be some SDs still in the pipeline and ROLEX will complete that batch and bring it to market and not just throw them in the trash ....

No need for sarcasm, I didn't call anyone's integrity into question, I just said I'd never seen a V.
Sure, I readily admit that I'd like to have the last date code of the last run of a given model. Wouldn't you? |

I own an "M" SD and a love it, i didn't buy it because i thought i was going to make money, I bought it because I like it. Yes sure it would be nice to own one of the last produced, but at the end of the day who will care in a few years when the serials wiil be forgotten. If the "V" had red lettering or something to distinguish it from the run of the mill I would have held out for one, but as they are all the same i have no regrets. I urge other "M" owners to get over it and just enjoy wearing your classic Rolex!

I agree Patrick. I dont see any difference between M and V. I'm just curious if there was really a V serial on the SD 16600.
