AP 26331 vs Rolex 116509
With a steel sub as the only other piece in your collection which would you opt for? Or is the answer simply to wait for a possible in-house movement in 2018 for the AP or a ceramic bezel on the Daytona? This is not a personal dilemma I am just curious what everyone would go for :). Don't forget to state why you made your choice in the discussion !

Tough one, Josh. Not really a chronograph guy, but here are my thoughts...
I love the look of the AP, but there's something about having the gold bracelet of the Daytona...the fit, the feel, it's amazing. So it gets my vote. By the way, I don't know if I'd hold my breath waiting for a ceramic bezel on the gold models...Rolex may reserve those for the OF bands so that there is a clear line of distinction...or they may be waiting to see how well the OF does before they push forward. Hard to say. |

I like the AP ROC but think best wait to see if a new inhouse is released first. As for Daytona I think it very unlikely, been waiting since 2013.

I think you guys are right about no ceramic bezel on bracelet models. I think there is a good chance of an in-house movement in 2018 for the royal oak chrono. I mean they have admitted it's already completed...SIHH only 30 days away |

AP. I for one am not waiting for an in-house as the ROC already has a great movement and i'm not looking forward to the big price increase an in-house will bring. The non screw down pushers on the ROC is the upgrade I wanted and its been done as of this year.

Josh, I'd wait to see if AP releases an in-house movement on the ROC. After my issues with the chrono on the 26320 and a very expensive service later, I'm shying away from that movement. There's a possibility that it could be like the Overseas with a huge price bump for in-house, but I'd still wait and see.
If nothing changes, it would be the AP for me. The fit and finish is just at a different level than the Rolex. |

Josh given your track record I would choose neither as both would end up being a loss on the inevitable flip.
However if I had to choose probably the Daytona as I would like to see how the first few years of production work out for AP. Interesting subject though! |

If it was me I’d probably go AP (because it’s stunning and I saw one yesterday with the silver/white panda dial and it really got my interest).
But as it’s you, I’d suggest withdrawing $3,000 and giving it to the homeless for Christmas. Its the same outcome as you’ll face when when you inevitably flip whatever one you choose after a few weeks, but at least this way this way you can do something good with the money you’ll lose
