RO 15400 Screwdown Crown
Hey everyone,
Haven't worn my RO 15400 for a while so I took it out today for a spin. Noticed an odd/different "alignment" with the screw down crown. I'm not sure if I'm over analyzing or simply didn't tighten it fully in all my previous usage but has anyone had the same experience where the screw down position of the crown changed? PS: I do know the AP logo doesn't line up on the 15400. Nor is the crown typically flush. First image I took a few months ago which is the position I'm use to. Every time I adjust the time, wind the watch, etc. and then screw down the crown it ends up in this position. However, the full screw down position of the watch changed today in the second image. I've unscrewed and "adjusted" the crown several times and appears the full screw down position is in this new position. Thoughts? Everything seems to be running normally. Am I going crazy? Hahahaha The watch is two years old and shouldn't require a service. |

happens on my Ti 44. Its super easy to tell as fully tight the ceramic casing around the crown isnt flush and its one of the pointy ends of the hexagon pointing up. When i bought it, it was not that way. I just dont screw it in too tight now, its still sufficiently tight for WR. Hopefully that makes sense.

don't know why it happens as i dont think its damaged. I think it just depends on where it is positioned when the threads engage.

So a little follow up with this...
I ended up playing around with the watch for a bit and when I did the whole "procedure" again I oddly noticed that the crown gives a constant amount of resistance when I screw the crown back on. This consistency continues until the crown ends up in the same position of the first image (what I am use to) and then if I applied a bit more pressure/force for the full screw of down of the crown, it ends up being in the same position as the second image... there is a distinctive amount of pressure/twisting required (but not a full on forcing of the crown) to go to the second image. I guess I really didn't notice that before until today... interesting... ![]() |

I think it's just trying to tell you to wear it more often! Too beautiful not to, right!?

Haha, I believe you are correct. Haven't added it in the rotation for a while. Giving some love to a couple "daily" pieces I just bought. I tend to keep the RO as my special occasion watch (but... Christmas is around the corner, time for some festivities)

I notice that when I screw in the crown of my Royal Oak 15450, the watch keeps winding. Is that normal?
