![]() ![]() I live in Houston, Texas and I have a Rolex DJ from 1984. I am in Cairo, Egypt on a construction job site for the next month. Met a fellow engineer wearing a Rolex and we got the talking. He told me the full service here costs $400 at an authorized service center. What do you guys think? Is it worth it? Should I go ahead and do it. I think the last time I asked in the US it was $950\ ANY advice is appreciated. ![]() |

Sure, why not?
If it's an official service center they use the same tools and in theory have the same training. Sounds like a good way to save some money. It's a huge difference in that case. |

Surely, a watch that age will require a bit more than a standard full service.
I guess either way you save money.

The person i bought it from had the watch serviced at a non official center 2 years ago. The watch is running perfectly and keeps great time.
if i do the service, it will be to save the difference and get an additional 2 year warranty |

Then again, why need servicing if it still runs well?
3035 movt is pretty robust & not very complicated. Could be an idea to go visit the RSC and ask them to check its health and to give you a proper quote for servicing, rather than just relying on hearsay. |

If it’s running fine then I wouldn’t bother. Get it looked at on a timegrapher which may tell you more precisely if a service is warranted.

Let sleeping dogs lay.
I'm all for regular servicing but i wouldn't open it up unless it's showing indications it's not running right or after 7-8 years(worn regularly). Which ever comes first. |

I agree with the other posts. Why to open the case and have someone mess with your movement? Wait longer for your next service and enjoy your beautiful watch. Pics please...

I have to agree. Especially seeing as you say it’s running perfectly at the moment!

If the watch is running properly I would not do anything to it. You are not saving any money of it does not need the work.

You’ve been given plenty of opinions on each side of the question. The one thing I’d mention is that Egypt has no RSC in-country.
IMHO, you’d want to be sure you are going to a Rolex Service Center - not just an independent authorized servicing retailer. And I’m not sure the retailers can give you a full 2-year warranty for an overhaul. I attached a map of just the nearby service centers just as info...none in Egypt... Save your money! Spend the 400 on a souvenir if it’s really that disposable.

You seem to be incline to service it due to the "saving" associated to the cost there. As said by others if serviced 2 years ago and running fine don't service it again.
