To buy or not to buy
Thinking about pulling the trigger on a 116600, pref 2014 , does anyone have any thoughts about this particular model as the prices seem quite decent at the moment @£8500.

I would try one on first before buying. It left me a little underwhelmed as I've said before. At that time I decided to get the LVc.
RRP for a 2014 reference was about £7k and about £7.6k before it was discontinued so £8.5k now is not a bad price. WF are selling 2014's for about £9k and slightly more for those still with a warranty. It's a nice watch but I thought it was overpriced for what it was. Previously the difference between a sub and 5 digit SD was about £300 but with the 6 digits it was over a £1000. In saying that I paid RRP for the SD43 as I thought it was worth paying £8350 for the updates. |

Just thinking about the case & 3 yr production ect on it ..... seems like one to put away in the safe for a few years

I really like mine. It’s a great everyday watch. The short production run is just a little bonus. Certainly not rare but less common than other Rolex.

The price seems a bit high given what I've seen in the US. Is it a NOS piece? That would explain the price gap a bit more.
They're fantastic watches otherwise. I personally think they'll be pretty rare in the future, but you never know what happens.

I prefer the 16600. Cheaper by around $3000-$3500. Better proportions, cleaner bezel and last pre ceramic SD reference

I don’t mind my watches sitting in the safe for years as I don’t have time to wear them often, the 116600 watch case is quite unique along with the 3yr production & that matt Ceramic dial looks so great , so my prediction is this is going to be the next Kermit

I had one briefly....liked it ok, but flipped it very quickly. For me the date without magnifier looked like it was missing something.

That's what I'd hope to achieve from any speculative investment, and I'm doing quite well over the last 15 years. But... that's not in watches. That's in spread risk financial investments. |

I’m not sure that buying it to throw in a safe makes much sense. Wearing it, however, is something else. It’s my favorite watch I have ever owned! |

It's terrific! I wanted one for years but ended up waiting for, and getting, the SD43. Still love the SD4K though. I say go for it.

I like the SD4K. The price is not outrageous but it might be worth doing some phone calls and sending some emails to see if an AD has a BNIB tucked away somewhere. If you're gonna pay a premium, might as well try find a new one first.
