IWC Mark XVIII Le Petit Prince Blue - First week on the wrist
Thanks to my boy Trevor who introduced me to this beautiful blue bird in IWC's Mark XVIII in blue. I am not much of a review person but overall, the execution on this pilot watch is excellent. It has the hallmark of a simple pilot watch (ie, legible and super comfortable on a leather strap) yet very refined with elegant elements such as a nicely polished bevels and the polished bezel. The deep IWC blue dial has the glitz of a 116618LB yet can be classy like a 5711/1A blue all without the fancy price tag.
Few pictures to share here on a nice relaxing Friday afternoon. Hope you will enjoy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As an addict to blue watches, this reference is really speaking to me. Love the simplicity of the dial - definitely a minimalist approach here that is well executed. The diameter seems spot on, and the thin case looks like it would be a pleasure to wear. Would not mind if this makes it into my collection in 2018. Thanks for sharing your initial impressions.

Looks great. I love the blue. It looks black in most pictures I see. Would also look great on a black strap. Also, the hands on the IWC pilots are absolutely beautiful!!

Buddy of mine got this - you can see the finishing is stellar but the dial in person is even more stunning, one of the best contemporary dials on the market now.

Beautiful watch, I’ve been looking at this for a while. How is the daily performance? I’m not that familiar with IWC, how are they over the long run for reliability, accuracy?

I've only had mine for a year. I typically check the accuracy the first time a get a new (to me) watch. I had tested my Mark XVIII LPP to be ~+4 sec. after the first 24 hours.
Maybe a few weeks later when I left the watch unworn and set the time, I checked again and it was ~+7 sec after 24 hrs. I hadn't really checked the accuracy after that, but I feel it's hovered around the +6-7 sec per day. I always do crown up by default (for no good reason), btw. I really should get myself to test in different orientations, to see if I can create a habit to keep the accuracy even tighter! |

Love that watch!
IWC blue is fantastic... I was at the boutique the other day and tried on a Portuguese 7day with the blue dial and it was really tugging on my heart strings... The only thing that has me on the fence is the white date window... really jumped out at me when I tried it on. Do you find that it isn't as noticeable in less harsh lighting? Although, the Mark XVIII's window is quite a bit smaller than that on the 5007. |

Great pics! I have this watch as my daily driver and love it. It has been about 8 months now and I still find myself just staring at the blue dial.
I travel a lot for work and love how easy it is to change the time. Very convenient. I think it is a perfect work watch as anyone who is into watches will know it, but also not too flashy. |

Congrats! It’s a great watch! I swapped the Santoni strap out for an IWC rubber strap plus deployant buckle because I am a compulsive hand washer. Feels like it will last forever!

Nice! I owned a ingy and wish I still did. It was a dog to flip but those days are behind me and I kind of regret ever selling. I’m not sure I’d ever buy a new IWC but they are great value on the secondary market - congrats

Congrats! This one has been on my short list for the past year. How comfortable is the strap? Did you consider bracelet ?

Thanks Gents! So far, I love it on the leather strap and may change it to a rubber one to experiment
