End Links Gap

First of all, myself is an Omega owner, so by no means I'm bashing Omega but wanted to highlight the End Links Gap issue which you might or might not aware yet.

My speedy pro is having the gap and it is a NEW piece which I purchased on November 2017.

I've browse thru hundred of photos in the net and Instagram and many Speedy having this end links gap problem.

Some photos for your reference

Yep, there is a gap there.

What did Omega say when you asked them?

My new speedy is perfect but I have had a few other omega watches that did have a gap.

If you didn’t have a gap, you'd never be able to get the bracelet off.

If you compared to the modern Rolex end links it is really laser precision and no gap

Fair enough - can’t argue with evidence like that.

Seems that Omega has a quality control or tolerance issue with either bracelet or case construction, or both...or the watches shown previously may not be fully OEM or showing age related wear. Could be any number of things...

suspect the gap only occur once the bracelet has been removed for straps or nato and once put bracelet the gap is there.

suspect as well because we use a single tip spring bar tools because the prying action only on one side of the lug at one time.

if we are using the tweezers type the gap can be avoided.

I find that hard to believe - the little spring is going to press out the stainless lugs? If that's the case, they can be pressed close together. more likely, wear or older manufacturing tolerances.

I use tweezer type spring bar when changing from bracelet to NATO on my SMP. There is a small gap. This photo was taken the day I purchased the watch, before removing the bracelet.

wow...I can't believe a brand new watch also has the gap.

I was too excited when I get my speedy and forgot to take a photo before I removed the bracelet and I only found out when I put it back.

Myself also can't convince myself that the prying action from spring bar tool can actually widen the lug width.

But I seriously out of clue actually what caused the gap as it is not a single case but really many Omega suffered this end links gap disease especially the speedy.

This is a frustrating issue as I am getting ready to purchase from a boutique. Any advice on this issue? I will try and buy one without the gap, but what will Omega say if you address this as a concern?
