Which Omega model holds its value best?

I am considering purchasing my first Omega and was wondering which model/models hold their value best?

Thanks!

Not many hold value well. Best bet is to not buy from a boutique and only buy with a discount. Only a few can hold value but those are usually always LE pieces.

My advice would be to choose a watch you like and search the forums for a trusted seller with a brand new in box model that you like. You can likely save quite a bit of money and then you will have paid the true market value for the watch you like. It likely won’t drop in value very much from there. The limited editions do seem to hold their value the best. Good luck with your choice!

I agree. Buy it right, and you'll do fine with retention of value.

just buy a new speedy pro moon watch from a TS here for about 3400 bucks. Watch only it will still sell for about 2500-2800 used, full kit you'll probably get 3k for them today.

Frankly, the plain old hesalite Speedy does very well on resale. I bought mine in 2010 and it has appreciated. Maybe not as much as a Sub or PP, but you won’t lose much if any on the flip if you hold onto it for a while.

I bought my FOIS a few years back for about 40% off the $5900 retail. That is where they are currently selling still. Buy it right they seem to hold ok.

if you find a Speedmaster 60th anniversary, buy it, enjoy the watch and have a safe rising value

Seriously?
It will have to be bought very cheap then.. It seems their resale value drops significantly quite quickly.
Omega just priced them too high. I wanted one for while based in photos. They're good looking but when you hold them for the first time they suddenly weight like a light piece of plastic junk. I had the feeling to hold the Swatch I had when I was 14yo.... Huge disappointment....At least they should've made it heavier in weight, just to give the impression of holding something substantial..
It's a pity. THey're good looking.
I just can't think they will hold any value..

Modern? Probably nothing since when sales go down and new models come out previous models will be sold at closeout price to the grey market at 20% of the price.

If I was going to buy an Omega, which is not out of the question, I would buy from a TRF Trusted Seller. Even though I'd lose out on the exchange rate, one particular seller here is punting out BNIB models for about 30% off retail. If you buy a Speedy or something from him, you're unlikely to lose too much.

Couldn't agree more , these watches are seriously collectable & will be one of the most sought after references from Omega in the not too distant future.

When do you plan to sell it?

I bought a Speedy and Planet Ocean 8500 movement 45.5mm last year. I got a good discount from the AD in Oregon at that time. However, when I tried to sell the Planet Ocean at Crown Caliber store they only offered for half the price for my PO. I think the Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch with hexalite crystal, hand wind is the best bang for the buck.

I agree ^^. At the rate the sport watches of some prestige brand are going, there’s still some upside on the Moonwatch Pro Hesalite model.

Some of the LE speedmasters have appreciated tremendously. I still own the 30th anniversary black speedy in this picture and sure wish I’d kept the other two!

Interesting, I was just at the boutique today and held one for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised by the light weight, a little big for my wrist, but that's a nice looking watch.

I got the midsize automatic sans bracelet for $1250 and wonder whether they will appreciate down the line, especially if this smaller watch trend keeps up, and Omega doesn't bring back the wave dial.
