Datejust 41 vs Datejust 36

Recently I've been thinking about getting Datejust 36. There is a talk that DJ 41 is actually not 41 but somewhere near 39mm. So, does anyone has both watches to compare? I would be interested in 36mm but if DJ 41 is 39, I might try that one. Also, I'm expecting DJ 36 to get the new movement next year as there has been no upgrade from 2005(I think). Currently DJ 41 is best bet but if DJ36 is getting 3235 movement, I will go with DJ36.

The color I'm interested in DJ36!!

Have both Datejusts -- 41mm with Oyster bracelet, 36mm with Jubilee bracelet. Not sure where you got your information about the 41mm but it is not 39mm. I like both watches but favor the 36mm with Jubilee braceet.

You should try them on back to back before you make your decision. Movement be damned.

I do much prefer the 41, it’s not even a contest.

I appreciate the 36. I do. But it’s not for me.

Of course, personal preference. But to me, a time and date only watch is perfect at 36. At 41 the dial feels unnecessarily large to me. A 36 you wear for you; a 41 you wear for others. IMHO.

That’s a nice watch. But if I would ever buy a 36mm. It would be worn with long sleeves only.

Can't do a 36. Looks too small on me.
36 past and present have way better dials though.

Thank you so much for the photo comparison!!! Good look!!

I've wondered how big of a difference is between 41mm and 36mm ........ clearly there is a noticeable difference.

You know what they say ummmmm ......... " bigger is better " and I'd have to agree

Movements don’t matter. Get the size you like, which, in my case is 36mm. My 39.2mm feels clownish after wearing 36mm.

Depends on your preference really. Both are beautiful watches. I have the 41 and prefer that over the 36 though.

Honestly I just went through this. I thought I wanted a 36 and coughed up a little more to buy the 41. The trick is to wear one on each wrist at the same time and look at it. 2 months later I still love my decision. Buy the one you love.

DJ 36, don't waste anymore time. No one knows when will it get the new movement, and the only real benefit of it is the bigger power reserve, but won't you be wearing the watch?

Depends on your wrist size and what size you like better, for me 41 all the way which actually is more like 39.5.

The concealed clasp is a big plus for the 36

Or...a person may simply prefer the larger size of a 41. It certainly doesn't mean that he/she is "wearing for others."

Nah. The bezel size is what really gives the impression of the watch’s size. It’s why the Speedy Pro really reads like a 40mm watch, too.
