15202st price increase to match 5711??

Surely ap won't want a void to open up?

They're supposed to be "equivalent pieces" across the brand right?

they can try, but secondary market pricing on a 15202 isnt nearly as strong as the 5711 and 12. Patek is raising the prices to right about where secondary prices already are for the 12 and a bit less on the 11. People are already buying at those prices so they know there is demand at those price points.

If AP does this they cant do it very much as a 15202 isnt as hard to find on the grey market with a modest premium.

Dont see this happening anytime soon, just the whole brand perception, brand target audience etc are different. Am quite sure the profile of owners for these 2 watches will show statistically the 5711 buyers are wealthier. Funny how we humans like to drive the market to make these distinctions - where the concept of veblen goods is based on.

Maybe the 15202IP will be on par with the 5711....but then again that's precious metal vs steel so not really an apple to apple comparison in terms of brand power.

To do this they would have to really cut production. I don't see it. Then again, AP and pricing models are like water and oil.

I think it will happen, pride would dictate a big gap does not open up between the Genta models, and as some who would buy a Nautilus are now priced out, the 202 will take their money.

Shall we get really freaky and say the PP price increase was in response to the IP?

This will make me cry if it happens, but the silver lining is that I can just try and justify the rose gold 15202 if the price gap closes.

Hodinkee couldn't even get one without a giant bezel scratch. The Nautilus is a tough as nails tool watch compared to this

AP are just thinking of all the polish money they are going to make, if they can't get the margin of the 5711, they'll get it this way!

I don’t think this will happen because of the fact that 5711 is much harder to obtain than 15202 and in Asia people who could afford both generally believe that 5711 is higher tier than 15202 (social status, maturity and elegance wise).

Really? I would have thought they were viewed very similarly. Maybe Patek is more viable than AP due to their slimmer wrists in general but not sure that applies to the Gentas?

That's actually my perception as well in Asia. Partly driven by the 5711's superior resale value making them an investment grade watch. In fact, I have known collectors who hoard 5711s but never wear them.
