My (admittedly not very successful) watch buying diet will soon come to an end and I’m trying to decide what to get next.

Rest assured I will make this decision based on what sings to me most and I recognise that it may take some time for my name to pop up on the waiting list - but I’m nonetheless interested to give the TRF community the opportunity to opine on how I should spend my cash!

I currently have three ROOs (panda on steel band, CE diver and CE44) and a medley of Rolexes - all of which are staying.

These are the list of watches currently in contention, in rough order of priority - though this prioritisation changes by the day.

Patek 5726 grey dial on steel - this is the current front runner. I don’t own a PP, like the idea of an annual calendar and think this piece is gorgeous.
I have been training myself to get used to the 40.x mm size, though am still drawn to larger watches

AP 26574 - perpetual calendar , blue dial. Great complication, looks fantastic- but it’s expensive and I’d take a bath if I ever resold it

AP 15400 blue dial - I’m also tempted by the ruthenium dial, particularly given that it’s going to be a LONG wait for a blue dial version....unless I just go the grey route, in which case I could have this one next week

AP ROO 25 - If the ROO 25 is anything like the original (pictured in the post below), it will be amazing. If I didn’t already have 2 other ROOs, I’d get this one in a heartbeat

PP 5164 - It was the 5164 that first drew me to PP (RG pictured in my wrist shots which I’ll post below, but I’d get the steel version) - so this model is clearly in contention also.

AP ROC Blue Dial - I’m still not sold on the current version with silver sub-dials - though the previous version with the solid blue (26320st) is under consideration

AP RG 44 (old dial) - I love this piece, but with the CE44 (a more practical daily wearer IMHO) already in my collection, I’m not sure that I can justify picking one up unless I get a great deal on one

I’m interested to hear your views!

I really like the nautilus range, with 3 APs in your collection and Rolex covered off, I’d go with the Patek 5726 but I also really love the AP perpetual calendar so if you didn’t already have the 3 APs I’d have recommended this one instead.

I like the 5726 on bracelet and the 5164. I have the 5164 and it is a very sporty and versatile piece. Overall, I would add a Nautilus as a first Patek so get the 5726. With all this madness about price increase for the 5711 and 5712, I think this might make finding the 5726 harder down the line.

I vote 5164, but I may be biased.

I had 3 ROOs at one point, and when I put on a 15202 and 5167, all of my Offshores were toast and sold off in short order.

5990 (not on your list), then 5164, then 5726, then AP RO PC, then ROO beast, 15400, ROC, ROO 44

you really don't need another ROO though IMO. If you were going to get one if it was me, I would flip one for a different one vs adding another.

I would get a PP first and trade the CE 44 for the RG, no surprise from me but if you are going to have a PM then this is the top one to have.

For PP I like most the 5164 and then the 5726, both are really fine pieces, the 64 looks very sharp on you, young (at heart) man!

Probably in the minority - but I do like the QP 26574.

I am curious though, if you and/or others could chime in, why it would take a beating on the resale market?

I do see that it's not an "in demand" piece as 202, 400, etc., but any reason why other than no demand, therefore lower price?

I'd go for the AP QP 26574 first. If I was spending that kind of money I'd also consider the Patek 5990 rather than the 5726.

higher price point means less buyers. Its not an entry level watch and if spending that kind of money I would go new and resale suffers because of it. Great watch though. I want one. Its just not at the top of my list at the moment.

Yeah - I see what you mean. But it seems like there is less demand for this SS QP, whereas there is decent demand for an RG 15202? Hard to compare SS to PM I know, but just looking at it two comparable price points - which maybe isn't the best comparison?

ive never seen a blue SS QP in person and my AD cant get one from AP. There are not a ton of buyers but they are not easy to find outside a boutique. I see RG 15202's all the time. My AD always has one so it is either the same watch and it doesn't sell or AP supplies them easily. Either way they are very, very easy to find.

My vote would be to take the leap with a Nautilus as well, given that there is no premium to pay on the 5726 or also as Tyler stated, the 5990. You already have AP covered with the ROO's so I find the other choices redundant.

Get the nautilus and swap out an ROO for the RG for a double penetration

And You're completely shying away from a watch on leather strap? That would open up a world within PP and ALS.

I vote for the 5726. It has a very balanced dial and a slightly thicker case, perfect for a Nautilus IMO.

Anyway most of the watches you listed are great pieces, if you can get any of these - congrats in advance!

Even after more than 20 years living in the tropics, I still sweat...a lot...and find that leather bands end up being too uncomfortable for most of the year

The 5726 is where my head is at for the moment...and it appears to be the most readily obtainable as well, based on my discussions with the PP ADs here.

I really like the 5164 also - and found one in-steel, in-stock at an AD some months ago and passed

The 5990 is undoubtedly an awesome piece - and I like the travel time complication a lot....but I’m very much drawn to that (less useful, but great looking) moon phase on the 5726

Though, I must say that the moon phase on the AP QP is even more remarkable
