The Second One.

Well it didn't take long for me to decide what would be the next addition to the "House of Panerai" in my collection.

I wanted the next addition to be a bit of a "counterweight" to the 88. My criteria was to add a manual wind, sandwich dial, non-date as this seems to be a bit more in keeping with the traditional Panerai references of the past.

I confess I do prefer a small seconds hand on a watch (yeah, I know but what can I say LOL.)

While browsing at my ADs and talking with my favorite rep. he mentioned he might have a little something that could interest me and would treat me well.

Back to "vault" he went and shortly returned with....a Jseries 111.

The phrase "Carpe Diem" went through my mind and the rest, as they say is history.

The watch came with all the usual triple box, rubber strap, and originally worn a brown leather strap. I have to say as soom as I got home the "birth strap" came off and on went the supurb English saddle strap that Joe sent me came off the 88 and straight to the 111.

A couple pics,

Maybe one of the best things.

Panerai Lume,

Wrist shots with that great strap.

Great choice Mike!!! I love my J series 111, from the manual wind, the display case back, the seconds hand, and sandwich dial, just can't go wrong!

Great addidtion Mike.
Being a leftie, I think you should keep your eyes out for a 219. A nice Base Destro might find a home in you collection.

I don't keep track of who I've sent the OP window sticers to, so I you want one, PM me a mailing address.

As always, some of the best watch pics on the net !!

I think we have a severe case of " Panerai Syndrome " .... two Panerai watches in a very short time.. :

The bad news : This case seams severe. There are no cure and it can be costly
The good news : As food for the soul, its priceless !! Congrats and enjoy !!

I was just thinking,we have two Luminors here and we havent even gotten to the Radiomirs,1950s casing Luminors,Special Editions ............ yet !! I think more are on the way !!

NICE !!! It looks great on your wrist! I have a question about your strap sir! Is it tight on your wrist, or does it move slightly when you move around your wrist?

There's the slightest bit of movement. I can tighten it down, but depending on movement it can get a little snug.

I prefer a bit of space to compensate.

You know I don't know yet. My thinking has been to put together a collection of three examples.
The 88 was a first obivious choice as GMTs have a special place for me.

Next I wanted something a bit closer to the "roots" and this one came out of nowhere and given the kindness of my AD I thought it best to strike and ask forgiveness later.

I'm not sure which direction I want to go with the third. Something with a total in house movement, but the hunt for a T dial is also a consideration. I'm just not sure and with these two I need to "recover" LOL! so I have time to research.

Well, let us know what your thinking.... Maybe a 233 then?

Probably best to recover a bit.... I hear you!

I think Panerai "In House Movement" price is too high. IMHO.

Not me bro. Just read the first line in my signature. It says it all about Panerai.
