To Patina or Not!!
I have been looking for a stainless Sub for everyday.
I keep seeing some of the older 16610’s that have some patina on dual and hands that I find very appealing. Much like myself, i like the look old work new visual. Patina aside, I have also come across some of the 16800 “transitional” models. Curious what folks think about older Subs for daily wear and what’s the story on the “transitional” Sub model! Thoughts? Really a matter of preference. Personally I'm a fan of natural patina. See and try a bunch a on.

My patina vs non patina. Both are nice but vintage rolex are in different level.

I definitely prefer the patinated dials/hands.
![]() Transitional is a term used for models that have features of both older and newer models. The matte 16800 has the old school matte dial, but with a new case design, new movement and sapphire crystal. |

Am I wrong in that the older models 80’s - 90’s the case seems to wear a tad smaller than the newer models. Which is fine with me. And these older watches, good for daily wear?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

the 5 digit cases wear smaller than their 6 digit counterparts. The 6 digits have beefier lugs and crown guards making them appear larger on the wrist.
What would you consider "daily wear" for yourself? |

It's amazing because patina is never 100% identical.....that's what makes vintage so unique. I own some modern "faux patina" watches and while I appreciate the intent and design, you can't beat real patina. Certainly a lot more character than the sterile/more clinical luminova.
