Gold daily and scratches

I forgot how easy gold scratches, little hairlines etc. I’ve been wearing my TT Sub almost daily since I got it. Need to wear my LVc, probably feels neglected LOL. gold watch owners, what do you do to keep your watches looking fresh- cape cod or just leave it alone? Cheers!

They are Love marks. Wear in good health and don’t worry about the scratches. You can have it polished if you wish when it is serviced. Cheers.

I baby most of my watches and the gold ones get numerous hairline "cuff" scratches no matter how careful I am. I wouldn't bother polishing because they will be back the next day.

Here's what i do, 'beat them up' daily, wear them all the time (sleep, shower, whatever) and enjoy your time. In about 7 years it'll be sent to RSC for normal service and then, well, time to start all over again. :)

I just leave the hairline scratches on my 116713 LN. Doesn't bother me anymore.

I actually prefer my TT to have a bit of character. Here’s an older pic. Now it has a few swirls and such.

Nice shot.

Not a gold owner, but nevertheless I’d let it be

Leave it be. Polishing is a slippery slope and you will find yourself chasing every scratch that appears on the watch. Before you know it, it is ruined from polishing. Try to let it go, just keep it clean and wear it.

Mask off the SS brushed parts and use simichrome Metal polish on the gold. Works wonders. I had a 16613 LB that I wore for 6 years and it always looked great after a quick polish up. Tape off the gold and use green scotchbrite on the brushed surfaces.

Minor scratches can only be seen when you examine the watch up close. No one will notice when they are admiring from afar; at least, that's what I tell myself!

I wonder how many worry about scratches on their wedding rings?

I wear my watches and enjoy them.

I have three gold watches; 116618lb, 116719 blro and Iwc portofino rose - none of them polished. Like underpar mentioned in second post hairlines are just love marks, and can be fixed during service if you want that new watch - feeling

I have put a little cape cod on watches before but now I get used to them so easily on a bracelet that I don't bother any more. With a Rolex wait a couple of years and then have them polish it.

The scratches show on PCLs SS or Gold. Jubilee and Prez does a better job at hiding scratches.

Bark doesn't show much wear even after daily wear. I had a 18238 as well wore it everyday for 3 years and then had it serviced and wish I didn't have it polished battlescars are cool in my opinion.
