2nd Rolex & Watch Winders.
I am looking to purchase my 2nd Rolex. What are your opinions on a Watch Winder? with one I would be able to keep one wound while I wear the other, (

I don't use a winder and don't believe that they are necessary.

So, letting them stop doesn't have any unintended consequences?
And, Thank You Both For Responding.... |

My AD friend recommends keeping the watches on a winder. As a minimum, I don’t have to reset them. I do give them a full wind when I start wearing them.

I use Wolf winders. Bi-directional option with programmed rest periods and I have no complaints.

Most of the time I let it stop, its mechanical so more wear and tear on the parts. Just like a car, more miles you willl be adding. for a time and date watch, no wonder is needed since it takes less than a min to set and go.

I have been using anwinder for over 20 years. I have a multi head winder for my collection now. I recomend a Orbita or Wolf. 650 TPD bi-directional is all you need for your Rolex.

I use one of these b/c relatively cheap and configureable. Got it on sale for $130 or so.

As was posted earlier, unless you have some uber complicated watch, just let it run down and wind it when you want to use it.
I've had a watch winder destroy an old Tag, and why add wear and tear to a watch? Check out this post from the expert: https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...0&postcount=57 |

Never used a winder, no issue here setting the watch when necessary.

I have a winder and love it. Is it necessary most likely not. I like to have my watches come wound. I like to also keep an eye on how accurate they are. It goesnt hurt that it looks cool with the LED light. If you had a perpetual calendar it is needed. Not fact, but I think opening and closing the crown will add more stress and will cause it to fail quicker. I still open them to make sure the seal doesn't get stuck, but it is done way less often then setting the time every time. The wear and tear on the escapement wheel would be true since it is working all the time. End result: not needed, but either are any of my watches.

I have a WOLF Triple watch winder for the ones in rotation. All the rest sit in a watch box in my safe. I like the convenience of the winder for the strap and go moments like my dress watch for a meeting, beater to go to the gym, etc..

I use a Wolf winder and like the way it works. Remember you don’t have to keep your winder running if you wanted to give your watch a rest just turn it off winders make a nice way to display your time pieces.
Some say it’s good to keep them running to make sure all internals stay lubed others say just let your watch stop to save on wear and tear. I set my winder on 400 bio directional terns in a 24 hour period.

I use Wolf winders so I can grab and go. It would be interesting to know what is replaced at most services, because from my experience the only things that seem to be replaced are gaskets and hands. The rest seems to just be cleaned and reassembled. Meaning despite either being worn or being on a winder, there doesn’t seems to be that much “wear and tear” on my watches.
