Watches have sat idle longer than a month in dealer showrooms. Rolex knows this and still gives a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase on new watches and a suggested service interval of no sooner than 10 years from purchase. The new oil they use has excellent adhesion and longevity.

When I bought my second rolex and told them I may put my 1680 away for a while, their tech there told me to retreive it on a monthly basis and wind it to keep the parts lubricated.
