Icon20 Question - Crown pulling out accidentally

Hi, I've got the new Airking, which I love but I've noticed that the crown unscrews on its own frequently and today pulled out to position 1 without me noticing. I'm trying to figure out if there's a problem with the watch. Any advice welcome

it happens with me the couple times on my Explorer. Make sure that you PULL IN the crown before screwing.

Welcome. Sounds like the tube or crown is stripped, time for a service.

I've never had that happen. Are you sure you have screwed down the crown properly in the first place?

Push the crown in while turning clockwise as the threads engage. Only needs to be snug.

I just took it back to the AD where I bought it and they'r sending it back. Interestingly, the sales manager of the store bought the same watch and has sent it back for repair three times for the same issue. And it still happens!

The 'King' does what he wants. But seems more like a ghost.

Can't I've ever had a screw in crown completely unscrew itself. I'm not sure what strange forces are at work there. Do you have any children who perhaps unscrew it when you're not looking/asleep?

If the tube was installed wrong or the crown’s first round of threads have become stripped, it is possible. The best way to know is have it looked at.

Ive noticed my wife’s DJ28 has had the crown loose a few times, maybe 3-5 turns. I wind it for her and she swears she never touches the crown. Not sure if its rubber on her work clothes cuffs or something, i screw it snug but try not to overtighten.

I’ve owned numerous watches over the years and that’s never happened. Suggest you check it was screwed in correctly.

My 16760 had the case tube O ring gasket displaced, binding the stem from freely rotating and the crown could not be screwed in properly. Both case tube and crown were replaced.

I’ve thought this has happened before once or twice over the years. As it turns out I believe I didn’t push in to screw the crown down so it never locked.

Not once in 30 plus years of Rolex ownership has this happened to me. Send it in for peace of mind.

It's all pretty simple really.
One of three things is likely happening.
In the absence of any further input from yourself, I will offer the following.

Either you are not snugging the Winding crown down when you are buttoning it up for some reason.
Or you have over tightened it to the point where the thread is stripped and it wont stay snugged down of its own accord.
Or some body else is playing with the watch without your knowledge.

It basically comes down to a simple process of elimination.
There may be other factors that are outliers but you need to look at the other issues first.
Assuming it is mechanically sound, it in all likelihood will never, ever, ever come undone all by itself.
Either way, Rolex will sort it out.

I think that's what "I just took it back to the AD where I bought it and they'r sending it back" means.

Welcome and "ouch." Hope that doesn't happen with yours!!!! Is this the new style Air king (39mm)? FWIW, I've never seen this happen on any of my Rolex or Tudors.
