Thinking of going PM... Which one??
Been thinking a lot lately about going gold. Really torn between DD40 (WG with black dial and sticks), DD40 (YG with black dial and sticks) and YG Sub (blue dial). I love them all so much. My current collection consists of the following:
TT Datejust 36 with white dial and gold Romans TT Sub (116613LB) Stainless Green Sub "Hulk" (116610LV) GMT Master II (116710BLNR) If I decide on the 116618LB, I will trade my 116613LB into it (as I don't think those two make sense in the same collection). So I could save a little coin there... I'm also waitlisted for the stainless steel BLRO and the 116500 Daytona which I will for sure add if the opportunity arises. So... which PM would you add? Thanks |

I would go with the YG DD40. My personal preference is lighter dials, but you can’t go wrong. It’s what I think of when I think “gold Rolex.”

Whatever model you decide I’d go with YG, much more of a statement!

I agree on the YG over WG. I also think the 116618lb with the trade in of your 116613 is the most reasonable approach. You could still then grab the pieces you’re waiting on if you were so inclined

I like white gold over yellow if it’s a full bracelet. I could go either way with a strap or OF. Good luck!

I'd lean toward YG DD myself. I happened to try on a WG Pepsi GMT literally 1 week before the SS Pepsi GMT came out just for fun as I'm not in the market for any gold watches. But I must say that was one sweet watch. That's where my head goes when I think of WG rolexes now.

I’d go with the DD40 YG based on your current collection, plus a DD is always a great way to start a PM collection!

As much as I like the understated and classy white gold, there's a certain vibe to owning a yellow solid gold Rolex President.
Personally I love the Platinum Rolex Prez. (With a glacier blue dial) But, that's dream-world fo me. Good luck whatever you decide. Make sure to post pix! Mark Sent from my SGH-I547C using Tapatalk |

I'd go with the YG DD over the WG DD. Since you already have a Bluesy, I think you check the box on a sporty yellow gold watch (even though it's TT).
Since you're looking at the 40mm, I'd strongly consider the roman numerals on a white dial. The numerals on the 40mm model (not the 36mm) are so lovely to me. If you're open to everose, consider that one with the numerals and olive dial. Those two are my favorites :) ![]() ![]() |

I'd trade the Bluesy in to the full gold.

The sub would be my choice. For looks, fit, and feel (which IMO are the reasons you want to go PM in the first place), I just don't think there's a better choice. Love the DD40, but unless you get lucky with a fit right out of the box, there's no micro adjustment, and the sub of course has the glide lock.
However, keeping the two tone bluesy and adding a DD40 is a solid choice as well. Kind of like you get to have your cake and eat it too. If you do need some adjustment on fit, there is a 1.25 link you can add to the bracelet which will help. If you go this route I think the black looks better on the YG. In WG, the blue and olive are spectacular. Good luck! |

I'm going through this exact scenario now. I own:
16710 Hulk Tried on the 116618LB and while I loved it, it just seemed to close to the Hulk (vastly different colors, yes, but fit and style obviously identical). I do like the idea that you can only get the DD in precious metals, so I'm leaning towards that. The question for me becomes what dial / PM configuration do I go with? Love the dials on RG, but for my brown skin, YG is best. Now it's down to the dial...I think. Either black or white honeycomb, or sliver Romans? God, what first world problems we have...
