Incoming - Oyster Perpetual 36mm

I can proudly call myself a “true” member of these esteemed forums, with the purchase of my first rolex!

Like many of you, my love of watches grew over time. It started on a trip with friends in Tokyo, Japan, staring boringly at the wall while my friends gazed over used rolexes with some sort of minature magnifying glass. The watch in question, a vintage birth year Rolex Sub, was in great condition and at a great price. Unfortunately it had a red dot visible under loupe So no deal for my friend

Slowly over time I would get more interested into watches. Always being one to try something different, I went down the Grand Seiko route with their beautiful tatami dial spring drive watch. Alas, as a newbie I didn’t realise it was too big for my wrist and you can never satisfy your itch until you get a rolex. Life is not complete without a Rolex

So I decided one day I will get a Rolex. Baselworld 2018 came and I was blown away by the SS Pepsi, as a frequent traveller and fan of cola (lol) this was my dream watch. I set myself a goal. Lose 18 kilos in 12 weeks and buy a SS Pepsi when it is released.

One thing didn’t go to plan, I have no chance at the Pepsi at MSRP Guess its a learning experience for us all to know we can’t just walk into a store and pay 10k for a watch

The other thing has gone to plan, I’ve lost 14 kilos in 6 weeks Every evening of the last six weeks, I rewarded myself by reading all the threads on the forums, its one of the things that got me through this diet

And to celebrate, and after much much deliberation, I picked up the below rolex from my AD (who now added me to the list of VIP clients for selected releases - I played dumb and told her not sure what you mean )

Excellent! Congrats! I just got my first Rolex last week, a Datejust 41. I own several other watches, but all along a Rolex is really what I desired. Glad to hear you finally got one!

Congratulations on the OP. It's a great watch!!! It was one of the recent watches promoted in a GQ article on the recent trend back to smaller watches.

https://www.gq.com/gallery/best-smal...hes-under-38mm

The OP 36mm was my first Rolex too. I traded it for something bigger (Sub C) and found out the new watch wasn't comfortable. I ended up buying a second one to replace the first. I'd still like to get the exact dial I sold. Que Sera!!!

Congrats on the watch. More importantly, good job on staying on track for your weight loss target! You should be very proud of yourself. I wish you the best of luck on getting a SS Pepsi once they start rolling in.
