GMT Pepsi waiting list

So I was at my AD on Sat. and asked to be put on the GMT Pepsi wait list. She indicated the list only had a couple people on it which surprised me. She didn't expect to see any of the new GMTs for a year. She did say there has been people on the Daytona list for 2 years.

Even the Tudor Pepsi has quite a wait list at my AD. I can't remember what number I am on the list. I think I'll probably be more excited once I actually see one in person. I expect to wait a year or two, which is fine. There's a few other things I want first.

3 ADs I know said Tudor will be easily available. One of them said they might get a BLRO SS before they get anymore BLNR..

IMO that just sounds like a different AD strategy. Say its obtainable, but it will be at least a year. Maybe it sounds better than we have a huge list and its going to be a year or longer until your name comes up.

I dont know of any AD's who are not expecting to get the watch for a year.

That’s the nonsense my local AD shoots. I had to drive 2 hours and find an AD who doesn’t make up nonsense.

How long can Rolex sustain this strategy?

Advertising watches that are not available for purchase?

I think I’m 3rd on my AD waitlist, but I contacted my AD the morning of the Basel release... but he mentioned it may have to be paired with another watch... meaning I’d have to buy something else with it if I want it early on. I’m a young guy, so I’m not that crazy about the jubilee... so we’ll see what happens.

I think some people will pay a premium to get the very first this year but then things will settle down.

As i want the same ref. on Oyster i am not so worried at the moment.

your name will probably come up on the WL at about the same time Rolex releases it on an Oyster bracelet, in a long, long time.

Walked to Rolex bin nyc. It’s private event after work Thursday. Since I didn’t buy my watches from Rolex nyc. I don’t get to see it. Oh well. I guess I’ll see the watch when I get it end of year.

Got some exercise but oh well.

Watches will start showing up in fall

IDK... first one listed and at just under 15k. I'm not buying it. They are setting the price with that and its too low.

Thats good..should be even lower..I am guessing Rolex is increasing their production to meet demand. In the past demand was low so they cut production..things take time to change..so might see a change!!

Or atleast hope for it.

im not saying the premium is a good thing. But the reality of the release and the watch market dictates it should be higher than that. I dont think they or anyone knows if Rolex will or won't be flooding the market with these at this early stage. They are leaving money on the table and a lot of it at this point IMO.

Personally i want it, but i also want the moser pioneer. I honestly would rather get the moser first so if the pepsi going to be easy to get I would rather push it to later, but i dont think that is going to happen. Like both, want both, but am strategically planning which one comes first and at this point its the Rolex.

True premiums are not good. But what can you do!! I am on the list, but not sure if I am loving the Red/Blue bezel. Nowadays even to try a watch or look at it, you have to be on a list. They get sold so fast!

But on a different note, $6000 premium is fair enough. Daytona SS has similar premium and I think it is more sought after watch.

GMT is in the trend but again not everyone loves it that much. Daytona everyone loves. Comparing with BLNR, which sells for a premium of $1000 the new SS should go up to $11-13000 max. It is just a waiting game.. soon the reviews will be out.

On basel reviews from Hodinkee, watchadvisor, time+tide and others who got to see the watch in real didn't really comment on the bezel. They didn't say anything positive nor did they say anything positive. Maybe they were told not to mention much about the bezel. So once the Watch hits the market and people start sharing reviews etc, will know more about its demand.

cant remember the exact number, but the blue sky dweller went huge with the first secondary market listings. It didn't stick for long but it was way bigger than where the price settled. Thats why im a bit surprised at the opening listings being where i would expect the price to settle for the first year or year and a half.

I agree on the Daytona, but its been out for a while and every grey dealer has them. That isnt the case with the first batch of pepsi's. I was expecting a huge open and then a steady decline as lots of people will pay whatever to be first.

If its not huge, IMO that is a pretty big red flag the watch market is past the height and on the way back down.

I am#1 on my AD's list, but it's a small market AD. Who knows when I will get it? However, I did get my DaytonaC within 12 months when it became available.

Hey! That's the same US$15k premium price quoted 3 weeks ago by a well connected Malaysian grey dealer

First on list at my AD, got both colors of Daytona when they began arriving a few months after launch (only mentioning this because I have an awesome relationship with AD). He couldn't give me an exact time frame.

It will be good, if prices go down or the supply gets little bit better. If you over tighten the supply the demand will vanish overtime or atleast decrease substantially.

The SS SkyD is an expensive watch to start with. But yes the blue dial was something that has a lot of premium. But again it is in $6000 range. Guess that is the magic number. Haha !!

But in terms of percentage GMT will be higher. Where did you expect SS BLRO price in the grey market to be at. The first one won't be a first one for two long though. We will see a couple at same time.

i really think the Pepsi is the sprint watch and the daytona is the marathon watch. The premiums on the pepsi i cant imagine are as sustainable which is why i thought they would try to go really big at launch. I thought 20k when it first hit dealers and then down to 15k in 3-5 months. So the 15k list is what i expected, just not initially.

Milk the first batch out!!

Haha lets see. If its 14k above..many might prefer to get the classic 16710 etc

The original Pepsi in good condition. That's for watch lovers. For someone trying to show off in the club with First SS BLRO 20k might work too. But then 20k for a SS!

well if its 15-14k now it isnt going up and only down so 12 seems pretty reasonable fairly soon.

We will see where DSW prices his first and then i think we will have a better idea. I have no skin in the game either way as im a buyer at retail (provided i like it IRL) and i dont flip.
