New Rolex on Friday.. Stuck between two.. opinions appreciated

Hey Guys

Picking up a new Rolex on Friday.. Deciding between the 2 below .. so no other suggestions necessary.

My First was a BLNR purchased last year.. Great Watch. Came across an investment opportunity .. sold a few toys .. no big deal it worked out in my favor. loved the watch.. but want something different.. honestly grew a little tired of the blue on the bezel as well.

I want something different this round and not looking to spend a lot of coin.

The 2 watches I'm deciding between are :

1. Airking 116900- While I know there are a lot of members that don't care for this watch, busy dial, colors etc.... It really did nothing for me at first either.. after trying it on it really sang to me .. something about it not sure what.. maybe its the fact it doesn't stand out as a typical rolex as much.. not really sure.. But I dig it .

2. Datejust 41 .. AD has a Smooth Bezel, Black dial with Oyster Bracelet and the other option is a Rhodium dial. I think I really prefer the Black. While the Rhodium looks amazing. I'm scared I will get tired of it quicker.

Dress- M- F I usually where Polo style shirt and Slacks for work during summer , button ups during Fall / Winter .

Sat / Sun Jeans and Tee or Board shorts and Tee ( live across street from the beach) so fairly casual weekends unless attending an event or dinner.

What do you think about the two watches and I think either should go with dress or casual where ?

I do love the look of the Fluted Bezel... not sure its worth the extra $$ and wondering if its a little too dressy vs the smooth bezel. It definitely stands out on the DJ2 .. AD has a blue one in stock and I really liked it however I prefer the DJ1 and not really wanting a blue dial.

Greatly appreciate opinions/ thoughts / what have you ...

Wife is a big fan of the AK

Best friend is a friend of the DJ1

So ... no real help there.

Naturally I'm just gonna have to go with whichever on really pulls on me Friday. Gonna wear them both for about 10 minutes or so to get a real feel for each..

Think I will go in Shirt in jeans as well to see how both look in casual wear ( I know the AK will be fine wan to make sure the DJ dresses down just fine even with PCL's ) the day I went in to try them on I was pretty dressed up for work due to conducting interviews.

Thanks again

I'd go with the DJ41. I have 2 DJ36's and love them both. One is a white dial with Romans and the other is a champagne dial with painted Romans.

I know I'm in the minority so far, but I think the Air King is so cool. To me it's just a little more unique, a little less expected, and a little more modern (but still has cool practical-ish roots). Since you're into it, unless you NEED a date, I'd go with the AK

If you tired of the BLNR I would think you'd tire of the Air King much sooner. I know you didn't want any more suggestions but did you consider an Explorer I?

I chose the DJ41. I was strongly considering The Milgauss at the time, which isn’t the AK but has the same case and is similarly unusual for Rolex. Anyway the DJ in Rhodium / Smooth / Oyster was just so gorgeous. I haven’t tired of it yet. So classic. But you said it earlier - just have to see what sings to you on Friday and go with it! Congrats in advance!!

Prefer the DJ over the AK because of the date and lume. The only lume on the AK is the triangle and the hands. I do like the look of the AK dial and could easily enjoy wearing one, too. Given I have an older DJ36 and a number of other Rolex watches, if I was getting a watch for myself it would be the AK.

I don't think this is a difficult choice at all. The DJ all the way, without a doubt or hesitation

Thanks for the input thus far.

I tried on the Exp 1 .. but was left underwhelmed it looked great In the case but once I tried it on i wanted more from my watch.

After looking at numerous pics the only other thing I find myself questionig on the DJ is fluted or smooth bezel. Def would go with oyster either way.

Looks like I just need to try on both I again.

I can see myself with either.

And to the poster above stating I might tire of the ak if I tired of the blnr I agree, that thought has run across my mind with the yellow and green

My choice would be the DJ, but listen to you heart! It skipped a beat when you put on the AK!

Be true to your heart!
