Datejust r series 16233

Today my son was given a R serial number bi colour date just model number 16233 supplied new on 9/8/89 so it is nearly 20 years old ,It works ok but has never been serviced and cost £1645 when it was purchased.

My 14 year old son will want to wear this so my question is this ,Is it worth sending to RSC ,for a full service and possibly a new bracelet as it has lots of wear as you would expect from a 20 year old watch.

I belive its not a problem to purchase a new bracelet only the cost also if you return it to RSC they give you a discount on the new bracelet does any one have any ideas of the cost involved or if its worth it ?

Or do i just get a watchmaker to give it a clean and oil and just let him wear it thanks in advance

20 years is not old for a Rolex, so I would get it serviced at Rolex, or with a Rolex trained watchmaker who will only use genuine Rolex parts.

Get it serviced at a RSC, it will come back looking new.

Send it to Rolex Bexley Heath through your local AD and it will come back looking like new, then decide if you want the expence of that new bracelet.
