Do AD’s generally charge to ship out of state?

Hello again friends! I am on muiltiple waitlists for the Rolex BLNR and was wondering if AD’s charge to ship out of state? I had one AD tell me that they charge $150 to ship fully insured and 1 business day.

When I bought mine they didn’t charge and I didn’t pay sales tax either.

Some will charge and some won’t.. but most I’ve paid was $50. Some do USPS registered mail which took like 5-7 days and the other did FedEx next day.

it depends each AD... $150 is small change for a 10K watch.

I know of an AD that charges $150 to overnight out of state. However, you still have to come in to the store first, then they would be willing to ship it.

For a high demand watch, I wouldn’t say no if AD wants to charge you up to $150 to ship out if State. For watches without waitlists, you should be able to work in free overnight or two day shipping to your negotiation.

The state of Florida requires you to pay sales tax, don't know if you knew that or not. I was audited once and know of two guy who were and it didn't go well for them.

Yes - usually $40-$50 — overnight usually.

Typically they cover shipping, and do not charge taxes

Frankly, I wouldn't pay a dime to ship a Rolex I bought out of state. They have plenty of margin to pay an overnight fee.....

The Rolex boutique in Houston didn't. I haven't been there in over a year so policy may be different now.

Why wouldn’t you pay for shipping?

I’ve worked with ADs that charge $70, and others that will waive the fee.

I bought a watch from out of the country, they shipped my the watch box and packaging for free.

One paid for two way shipping to a friends then back to my house, one made me pay just to send it out. Depends. Also, if you pay cash and they save the 3% card fee they’ll probably be more generous if you bring that up.

Some do. I've never had to pay more than $50. Usually nothing though.

I have a question regarding insurance. You purchase the watch over the phone. You give your credit card. The watch is to be mailed to you. Do you need to request insurance? If the watch is lost in the mail, who is responsible?

Some ADs absorb the shipping fee for their clients. You're paying thousands for a watch and the AD is potentially making thousands on each watch sold (Rolex).

If Amazon can throw in free shipping for spending $25, an AD should for every watch sold.

My AD doesn’t but when he gives me a price he knows he’s shipping it so I’m sure it’s factored in.

This should all be stopping soon, ADs should only sell to locals they know and can vet for flipping.

The last watch I bought from an AD, we got to a price plus shipping. I countered with a slightly lower price and free shipping. It's really up to you on how you lead the negotiation track and somehow land on a final price with shipping baked into it.
