Datejust Ivory Pyramide Roman Dial

I have decided to start wearing my first Rolex which I bought in 2001. This beautiful Two Tone Datejust with the Ivory Pyramide Dial. I haven't worn it in years as I have been wearing either my 50th Anniversary Submariner or my BNLR. Not sure if it is out of fashion but I think it looks beautiful and will start to enjoy it again and alternate between my 50th sub and the BNLR even though this isn't very sporty. I think I like the jubilee bracelet again!

not out of fashion. quite like it.

IMO, HQ ruined the DJ when they plumped the case and polished the lugs. so you have a mint example from the last rounds of an absolute classic.

Thank you! That is great to know. I hadn't looked at it in years until the last couple of weeks but the more I look at it now, the more I appreciate it. Great to know it isn't out of fashion. Thanks again!

I think you might find it a bit small after your gmt2c and sub

That's a beautiful TT DJ you have there! Can't say I've seen the pyramid dial in-person before, looks very cool in those photos. I'd certainly start giving this some wrist love and mixing it into your regular rotation with the Sub and BLNR!

Initially probably so, but to me the combination of a 36mm on a Jubilee or President is so perfectly balanced that a larger watch head feels kind of out of place

Yes, exactly you are right. I definitely did since I haven't worn it for so many years but it actually fits a bit better than my GMT II and the sub as my wrists aren't big. I am really glad I bought it all those years ago. just can't believe it has been that long! LOL

Thank you very much! The dial looks much better in person. I should have brought it out to wear it much sooner. I am definitely going to start giving it more wrist time and rotating it with the others. Thanks again!

I agree with you. It actually feels much more comfortable. Especially compared to my BNLR GMT. It feels like a new watch after so many years. I just regret not rotating it in sooner. :-)

A DJ36 is the ultimate classic watch and never out of fashion. I’ll be getting a SS next year when the new version will be out with the new movement. Also jubilee and fluted bezel.
Cheers.

That dial is awsome and very tricky to get nice in a pic. Here is Mon's DayDate I borrow a few years ago.

It is one of Rolex’s more interesting dials. I think it is second only to the Meteorite dial for dimensional diversity.

Great to know it doesn't go out of fashion! I have actually been tracking the accuracy and it is running spot on. I have been wearing it all day and can't stop looking at it. Thanks for all the positive comments!

That's a Super-Classy Datejust. The DJ has retained it's basic design because it's an absolute classic. Really, the Hallmark of Rolex. Of course the Submariner is the apex of Rolex Pro watches.

Great piece,
Mark

Thank you! All the replies have made me realize how much of a classic it is. I am so glad I never sold this a few years ago. I will always keep it.
