Pepsi Vs Daytona
I find myself in a situation where I am #1 on the list for a Pepsi and should be receiving it in the next couple of months. This being said my grail watch has always been the White Dial Ceramic Daytona. Maybe I am reaching out to the wrong ADs but I haven't found a single one that would add me onto a list even willing to pay half down.
Do you think I should keep the GMT and pray that I find an AD that will add me to a list or flip it to fund a Daytona on the Grey Market? Please keep in mind I have a BLNR in my collection as well and would probably favor it over the Pepsi. If you have any advice or AD suggestions feel free to PM me!!! |

Honestly, flipping the Pepsi may be a good move to get the Daytona.

If you can get your hands on the Pepsi, keep it fresh and flip it for the Daytona. I don’t like flippers, but that is your most direct path to what you want.

I'd like to say "don't be that guy" but you're an adult and it's your money. If your AD will sell you a stainless BLRO #1 above all other clients then I'm honestly surprised they won't get you a Daytona.

Pepsi Vs Daytona
Don’t buy a watch you don’t really want. Let someone else buy it - and wait and get the Daytona.
If you’re #1 on the list for the GMT just explain that to your AD - you have to have some rapport to be #1...and I suspect that might get you a Daytona...but I would think you’d have had the Daytona option when it was released? I got the first Daytona that came through the door at my AD and a call following the Basel release of the Stainless BLRO - offering me the 1st — and I passed. I don’t care for the new GMT. Passing on the BLRO got me access to a couple of non-Rolex references I’ve REALLY been after. Just my .02 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Flip it! If you really want a Daytona. OR buy another piece, preferably a PM
Like others have said, if you’re getting a Pepsi this early then a Daytona will come to you within a year or two |

Sounds like the consensus is to get or wait for the Daytona. Have to agree, you should get what you really want.
But let’s be clear about one thing - the White Dial Ceramic Daytona can not have always been your grail watch, it’s only been around for a little over one year.

New Pepsi plays no seconds to the Daytona.
Grab it and enjoy it.

Get the new Pepsi, keep it plastic wrap, you might be able to trade it for a Daytona

My AD has told me they should get 1-2 116500's in the next 3-6 months but has no idea when she will get the Pepsi. She (and others) have said this will likely be the single most sought after Rolex in a very very long time. that's saying something given the current demand for the SS Daytona. |

I was “first on the list” for a white 116500 and didn’t get it until October 2018.
IF you get it soon, don’t size it nor remove the stickers and trade it for the Daytona you want. But if your AD is putting you first I can’t see why they can’t get you a white 116500 |

Hey All.
Thank you for the feedback. When I say that the White dial Ceramic Daytona was always my grail I meant the Ceramic Daytona and the SS non ceramic Daytona before it. Just because it was my grail doesn't mean that I had the means to afford it or jump on a list. This just became within my means within the last couple of months. I had enough time to develop a relationship with an AD to jump on a list for a Pepsi prior to Basel but the Daytona list has been filled at my AD for a while. They are willing to add me after a couple people come off but I am looking at a 4-5 year wait. I didn't have the insight a couple of years ago to jump on a list for a watch that I couldn't afford. I also didn't have the money to put half down on a Ceramic Daytona when it was released (I know not all ADs do this). I probably will flip it when I get it if I don't find another route. I wouldn't mind having both if I found a reasonable wait at MSRP on the Daytona. It could also be a couple of years even though I am first on the list as people are saying here. Maybe I am just being optimistic on the situation. |

Having been in similar situations in the past (albeit not with flipping for profit), I would recommend aiming for what you want and buying if/when something else comes along. Until then, keep cash ready but put it out of your mind.
The SS BLRO might take longer to source than you think, even if you're #1. There might be others before you who are #0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and so on. |

If the ceramic Daytona is your grail, and given your criteria, I agree with others...flip the SS Pepsi for the 116500.
Of the two, I’d take the Daytona every time...and I like the new Pepsi a lot. |

This is amazing, do you have a time machine. Just to add my two cents, definitely flip the BLRO for a Daytona C white dial, I have a feeling its not going to be that difficult a watch to get in about 5 years, look at all the BLNR watches available at grey dealers and members picking up at AD's. The BLNR had a small premium at grey dealers and they all seem to have one, look how many members here have one. |

Buying or passing on the SS BLRO will not increase your chance of getting a Daytona from an AD. If going the grey route then obviously buy and flip to get the Daytona closer to retail.

yep... this makes no sense. Like it or not the BLRO is a very, very hot watch and its going to be extremely hard to get. Especially early on.

Buy the SS BLRO - don't flip it.
Wear it every time you pop into your AD. Make the AD supremely comfortable that you are not a flipper, and you will most likely get that Ceramic Daytona much quicker than you think. When the Daytona comes in (at retail) in a year or so, then you can sell what will still be an extremely sought after watch, most likely for more than you paid, and put those funds towards the Daytona. Who knows, you may even prefer it to your BLNR , in which case sell that. It's a no brainer

If you really get the SS BLRO, I wouldn’t be surprised if you able to trade straight up for a BNIB Daytona C. Looks like the hype is building. You can count on the first seller here pricing it >USD20k
