116500LN or something else?
I love the ceramic daytona--particularly the white dial. Since I very likely will never ever get to have one at MSRP though, I'm probably looking at around 20k to acquire one. Is this the watch people would go for at that price or are there other watches (rolex or otherwise) you'd opt for at that number?
I know there are lots of great options once you inch up toward 25k and higher (15202, DD40, PM subs and GMTs, etc) but I'm curious what people would go for/think about going for if 20k is really the upper limit (only 1 watch, no splitting)... |

Not many alternatives as prices are higher on APs and PPs too, so if this is really the one for you then pay for it, don't buy the price buy the watch. WG OF is a good choice but price is more like $28-30K.

Are you saying this a one and only watch?
If so, I'd say use the 20 k toward 2 pieces for a little more diversity. You also might find that you want a date complication. A one and only would have to have that for me Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk |

I'd sooner spend 20k on vintage versus the 116500.....but if that's the watch for you and you have no means to buy @ MSRP without a wait with no forseeable end.....then my suggestion is you buy the watch and enjoy it...then move on with your life. Chances are pricing will only go up on this one IMO.

At MSRP it is worthwhile and maybe a very very slight premium I can see it. Well over MSRP especially close to the 20k mark I think there are other options whether vintage, pre owned / new other brands I would be interested in.

what would you be thinking of vintage-wise in that range? I’m not against vintage by any means, just don’t know if i’m an educated enough buyer to go vintage at that price... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice collection
You could certainly add the Daytona but I’d have a hard time paying up for it. Having said that, if you want it now and plan to keep, then paying over MRSP is up to you. I’d also consider saving a tad more and add a Rolex diver and maybe an IWC petite prince |

This is my solution while waiting for the SS 500c white. Purchased it BNIB less than 2 years ago at a very good price.
With this I can wait until having a chance to buy the SS version at retail. And the RG version is very beautiful:-) |

I’ve actually got a friend who owns that watch so I’ve tried it on—I’m usually partial to white metals but loved it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

With 20k I'd look at good divers still like 5513,1680,16660,1665 etc...20k could get a pretty decent explorer 1/2 also (1016/1655). In the GMT side 20k could more than land you a very nice matte 1675 also or even a nicer 16750 matte if you want more money leftover. I do think the 116500 is worth the premium long term wise but you gotta love it...IMO better buys IMO in vintage for that money...even with the recent increases.

I would buy the watch you want for $20k, only a matter of time until Rolex put the price up on the 116500 C so that will help you if you get it now. Life is too short to wait.

I own it and I love it! I paid MSRP though...I don't know if I love it $20,000 worth. If I were going that far I would probably stretch my budget into PM territory.

I don't think I'd pay so far over MSRP for any watch. At 20k, I'd be more likely to look at higher brands (AP, etc.) or a PM Rolex (probably a pre-owned WG Sub or GMT).
