Roger Federer special edition DJ41

On a layover at Heathro (London) and of course, stopped by the Rolex section of the duty-free. The salesman said they had one (1) watch from Basel, it is the Roger Federer special edition DJ41. He claimed it is ectremely rare, like a ss Skydweller or the new Pepsi. My price was $10,000 USD. He said it was a mistake the store got it. I know nothing about this edition (but must admit it is very nice!). Is it really that rare? Worth a premium?

I’ve only got about an hour before my flight, if anybody wants this watch hurry up and let me know.

Looks like the TT model, Paul? If so, that's definitely not a Basel 2018 model.

What's new with the 2018 model is that the RF dial is available with the SS DJ41 oyster or jubilee. A nice dial, yes, but surely won't be "rare".

Isn't that just the regular Wimbledon reference? Nothing rare about that!

The Wimbledon DJ with the Federer dial isn't exactly rare or worth the premium.
That's my D-Blue next to the slate grey/ anthracite dial that was tagged at US$9500

‘Wimbledon’, not really rare but maybe a less popular dial variant. This was available on the DJ II but I believe was rereleased this year on the 41

I saw one of these two days ago at an AD in the Austin, TX area. It's beautiful in person, but not really rare.

I’m sometimes amazed at what AD sales associates say about their product. Either lack of training or complete dishonesty.

Not rare and certainly no Basel 2018 "special edition"

On behalf of all British people I would like to apologise for a smart ass London salesman trying to "con" an American cousin

At today's rates, this watch is $11,991 dollars. You'd get the VAT back so his $10,000 is bang on. Retail in the US is $12,000 on Oyster, $12,700 on Jubilee I believe.

That's a DJII Megan, not a DJ41

That's right but the DJII is more of a 41 than a case size of the DJ41 which measures ~ 39.54mm across. I know the DJII is on the oyster @DavidUK has the DJ41 on the jubilee
However the watch Federer wore when he lifted the Wimbledon trophy last year had a smooth bezel, not fluted isn't that so?

I believe it was (at least it appears so from the images available) and on oyster.

Smooth is of course an an option on the DJ41.

Not sure what the actual size of each watch has to do with anything however
